What the girls revealed in the interrogation videos were the most interesting parts, but you're right the doc would be better served if they had waiting until after the girls went on trial. That was scary how calm they were about describing all that. I don't know what I'd be thinking if I were their parents. Especially Morgan. Her tone barely changed. It ties into what her mother said about watching Bambi and not being sad. Although, I think she was genuinely surprised when she found out Payton didn't die at the scene.

I don't think the prosecutor is going to be successful trying these girls in adult court though. A jury will likely not sentence two white, mentally ill kids to 65 years in prison. I bet it get sent back to juvenile court before their trial date.

Girl, I was shocked they were even charged as adults. Compared to kids of color of both genders, it's rare as hell to see two white middle class girls even be considered for adult prison. Shocked I tell you. What they have against them is that it's a high profile case in which another middle class white girl was stabbed 19 times and left for dead in the woods. But they are so lucky their names aren't Shaniqua and Sparkle from Cabrini Green in Chicago.

I'll be shocked if these two kids are actually sentenced to 65 years a piece. Depends on if the victim testifies, I guess.

Watched The Martian on DVD. I had tried to read the book when it was published but did not enjoy the way the author presented the material. It was handled well in the movie and I enjoyed it.

Watched The Disappointment Room... and the title of the movie fits with the movie. Because the movie was crap with Kate Beckinsale face having no movement.

I watched Pariah tonight. I liked it but I think it kind of fell apart near the end. Also, I rewatched 28 Days Later and it was even better the 2nd time around.

Watched The Grand Budapest Hotel over the weekend.
I adore Wes Anderson's quirky films. This one hit the spot. Great cameos - very funny. I've seen four of the seven he has produced.

Watched The Girl with All the Gifts and I didn’t like it. I found the kid to be very annoying. And I didn't like the ending at all.

I'm the other way round. I saw the movie but haven't read the book. So I went into the movie not really knowing what to expect.

I watched The Possession (2012) with JDM and Kyra Sedgwick. SyFy aired it this afternoon.
It was awful really but I had to see what happened. JDM wore a black leather jacket.
From IMDb:
"Is this movie based on a true story?
Loosely. It is based on the true story of the Dybbuk Box, a wine cabinet which is said to be haunted by a dybbuk. It had belonged to a Polish Holocaust survivor named Havela, who had escaped to Spain and purchased it there before emigrating to the United States. The Box had been kept in her grandmother's sewing room and was never opened because a dybbuk -- an evil spirit from Jewish folklore -- was said to live inside it. He offered to give the box back to her, but she became upset and refused to take it. The box contained two 1920s pennies, a lock of blonde hair bound with cord, a lock of black/brown hair bound with cord, a small statue engraved with the Hebrew word "Shalom", a small, golden wine goblet, one dried rose bud, and a single candle holder with four octopus-shaped legs. It was sold in an eBay auction by a seller who claimed that strange things had been happening in their household after purchasing it at a flea market. This is the box that inspired them to make the film."

I usually resist going to the "big" movies of the year... but I recently saw LaLaLand. Loved the production numbers, but I am a musical geek as may be noticed on some of my posts.
I sat there for the first part and kept wondering why I wasn't loving it... and then at a certain part it started to sink in and I fell for it. The ending was wonderful... it hung on me for several days.
I have my theories about why I didn't like the first part. Gosling and Stone have such great chemistry and during the parts where they were meeting and not getting along I think didn't ring real with me.
Also recently saw Hidden Figures. Loved it.

Watched "Songcatcher", an indie from 2001. Ripley, this was filmed in Asheville, NC. I really liked it. I saw it on MPlex - one of the channels on Charter. Beautiful ballad music. I was enthralled. Setting is 1907 - check out Ebert's review. www.rogerebert.com/reviews/songcatcher-2001

Asheville and Wilmington both built up large filming industries in the early 21st century, until neighbor Georgia began offering better tax incentives for shows and films. This led to the boom in Georgia we see today with TWD and Stranger Things being just two examples of the revenue brought in by filming. The NC state government's failure to support the vision has cost the state billions in lost opportunities beyond the recent Dirty Dancing remake and the upcoming Frances McDormand film made her last summer for a few months. I have not seen that film Rosie, but I will check it out, thanks.

That one was good! Moonrise Kingdom is my favorite Anderson film, I think. I watched What Ever Happened To Baby Jane and absolutely loved it. I had never seen it before.

There was a well documented feud between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford that reached its "highest intensity" during filming of that movie. Jessica Lange (portraying JC) and Susan Sarandon (portraying BD) are in an FX mini series called "Feud" airing on March 5. I hope it's good - I plan to watch it. www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/feud-a-timeline-bette-davis-joan-crawfords-infamous-rivalry-972075

dark sister and Starlight, did either of you see Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte? It was supposed to be a sequel of Baby Jane. Crawford dropped out and Olivia DeHaviland stepped in. Bette Davis remained in the filming.

Bette Davis remained in the filming. Yeah I saw it ages ago. Bette Davis role is similar to her role in Whatever Happened To Baby Jane with her character being blamed for something. And if you liked Whatever happened To Baby Jane you will like Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte.. And I didn't know that Joan Crawford was suppose to be in Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte until I read that article you posted.

I saw The Belko Experiment last night and enjoyed it. It borrows from a few other films but was still very watchable. Michael Rooker dies in the first 15 minutes or so, so that was disappointing. lol.
