watching surviving the game with ice t. the premise has been done to death but I love this version of it. ( look who directed it) A homeless man is hired as a survival guide for a group of wealthy businessmen on a hunting trip in the mountains, unaware that they are killers who hunt humans for sport, and that he is their new prey. Director: Ernest R. Dickerson (as Ernest Dickerson) Writer: Eric Bernt Stars: Rutger Hauer, Ice-T, Charles S. Dutton

I watched Boyhood on Netflix - Ellar Coltrane, Ethan Hawke, Patricia Arquette. Very ambitious of Richard Linklater to follow the boy and his sister (actually Lorelei Linklater daughter of the director IRL) from age 6 through HS - shot in 2-week installments over those 12 years.
I was very much amazed at how much I liked this "experiment".
Beside the children, Patricia Arquette changed the most. Ethan Hawke kept the same looks through those 12 years.

I treated myself this afternoon - watched Loving. Ugly subject beautifully done. Ruth Negga and Joel Edgerton were fantastic as Richard and Mildred Loving. There were 4 people at this matinee showing - I mean in the entire theater. I ran into two of my gal pals at the ticket counter and we sat together. Fun unplanned get together. Edited to add this picture at Cannes - amazing how Joel Edgerton (tan jacket) was able to transform himself into Richard Loving. Ruth Negga somewhat resembles Mildred (aka Bean) IRL.

Rosie I'm glad you liked Loving! It such a wonderful movie, I really hope the Oscars don't completely forget it. Negga and Edgerton gave perfectly understated performances. I also saw Hacksaw Ridge recently, which I ended up liking a lot more than I expected. The first part of the movie is very cheesy and terrible, but the war scenes are very intense.

I'm watching Westworld, the film. It holds up well, eithbonly a few scenes dated, like the Control Room equipment, women's hairstyles.
Yul Brenner is now chasing Richard Benjamin through the operations area after the robots slaughtered guests. One reason he's scary is his infrared vision which let him find Benjamin by the infrared footprints of his running trail. Brenner's grim relentless is a scary foil to Benjamin's Everyman desperately trying to find skills to survive.
The lighting gas Brenner walking , then running through Daryl lit underground rooms where his face is seen one moment but hidden the next with white lights for his eyes. Very effective. Benjamin's character just threw acid in the robot's face to ruin his vision. Still thrilling, scary and a fun watch.
