I just got this great cookbook called Mollie on the Range, a young woman trained as a percussionist at Julliard who marries a young beet farmer and moves to North Dakota and becomes a foodie.
Tonight I made her All the Aliums Fried Rice with leeks and garlic and onions. The thing that set it apart is she said to top it with sciracha sauce and mayo. I thought that a bit weird but tried it. Amazing! Even my very picky eater (husband) liked it.

I love Mollie Yeh's food nana ! I'll have to check out that recipe. If you ever eat sushi rolls with "spicy sauce" it is just sriracha-mayo actually.

This is what I am eating at present.
I was gifted a Hello Fresh Box.
Included were all the ingredients to prepare 3 meals for 2 people. Each meal was packaged into its own box within the big box. The meat was nestled in ice packs. The box weighed 14 lbs but a good bit of the weight was the ice packs.
Wonderful fresh healthy ingredients with step by step instructions. I was able to choose the 3 meals. I chose a chicken meal with orzo and baked veggies, a pork chop meal with baked veggies and a steak/potato/veggie meal. I am preparing the steak meal tomorrow and will have the leftovers on Tuesday.
Has anyone tried Hello Fresh? Absolutely loved this. Wish I could afford to take advantage of this on a regular basis. Hello Fresh has family options, classic options and vegetarian options.

I have friends who tried it- found the food decent but the amount of waste-plastics, iceblabks plus cost resulted in their not subscribing or doing again. I hope your meals are awesome Rosie , it is a great option IMO. Edot- other friends rave about it.

I prepared the last meal in the Hello Fresh 3 meal box. Upgraded Steak and Potatoes. Picture and recipe card This is the mini box This is the contents of the mini box Preparing steak Plated meal - about 1/3 of the prepared dish - yummy leftovers! Opinion: All the food items were real food - nothing processed (exception: the yellow packet of demi glace was somewhat processed). Minimal packaging - no clam shell rigid plastic. I opened all three of the mini boxes right away and removed Yukon potatoes, shallots, tomatoes and the sweet potato. Those food items shouldn't be refrigerated. There was no instructions anywhere to notify people to do this - I guess they assume everyone has some basic food principle knowledge. The only pantry items I needed for all three meals was Olive Oil, S&P. There was extra food in each of the mini boxes - probably because my meals were intended for two people not four - hard to send half a fresh lemon LOL. There was a box of condensed cream of mushroom soup by Pacific Organic - I only needed 1/2 cup. There is enough left for tuna/mac casserole. There was a large portion of fresh Mozzarella and extra Orzo. I made a casserole from the left over chicken from 1st meal and used the extra Mozz and Orzo. Actually that casserole was entirely 'on the fly' and entirely delicious. Had that yesterday as I didn't feel like food prepping. First time subscribers receive $14.00 off their first box and $20.00 off subsequent boxes for referrals - no limit on the number of referrals. Shipping is free. Subscription can be suspended at any time and picked up again at any time. I will definitely use this service during the winter months when it's not fun schlepping through snow and ice to grocery shop. I had six plus meals from one box - I don't mind eating leftovers.

I slow-roasted a slab of pork belly on a rack last night, rubbed with freshly-made 5-spice powder on the meat side and scored to help render fat. Cooking low and slow (3.5 hours) rendered most of the fat before I crisped the top skin under the broiler to finish. Some rice vinegar, scallions and cilantro to finish- crispy, crunchy, meaty goodness for a bao or mantou bun with a shot of hoisin sauce.

Heck, at this point I'll fedex myself to your house if you'll make me these.

Chicken Pot Tot -- a homemade chicken pot pie but instead of a crust you cover the sucker with Tater Tots. Good lord, how can anything be bad if it has tots?

Homemade "Cream Biscuits" with Honey. Yummy! Explain, please. Cream biscuits? I love biscuits. Sexual Chocolate There are several variations of Cream Biscuits but this is how I do it: Preheat oven to 450 degrees 2 cups white whole wheat pastry flour - I'm sure you can use any flour but something about the pastry flour makes these very light tasting. I use King Arthur's flour for everything I bake. 2 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt Whisk the above ingredients together Add 1 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream Mix with fork - gather into ball - flatten with hands on floured surface to 1/2" thick. You can form into a rectangle and cut 16 squares (approx) or cut into rounds of any size - flatten scraps. Bake on ungreased sheet for 10 to 12 minutes (tops and bottoms should be brown). You can brush tops with milk before baking to brown up the tops or brush with butter after baking. I have a large cutting board which I use to pat out the dough. Keeps clean up to a minimum. If I have it, I love ham biscuits with these or breakfast sandwiches or eat with honey or jam.
