www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/2016/07/17/alden_ehrenreich_officially_confirmed_as_young_han_solo.html"The news broke back in April that Alden Ehrenreich would likely be cast as Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars spinoff film, and in May, Deadline reported he’d landed the part, but studios Disney and Lucasfilm remained silent on the matter. They broke their silence Sunday, when Ehrenreich was brought on stage during a panel at the Star Wars Celebration convention in London and officially introduced as the young Han Solo. According to the event’s liveblog, Ehrenreich said that the audition process took roughly six months, including a screen test on the Millennium Falcon with Chewbacca. “I’ve never screen tested with a Wookie. It was amazing,” Ehrenreich told the audience. Star Wars: The Force Awakens star John Boyega wished Ehrenreich luck, telling him, “You’re gonna be fine. You’ve got that charm stuff down.” Ehrenreich will play Han Solo in an as-yet-untitled Star Wars film that will be released on May 26, 2018 and will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Lord and Miller pointed out at the panel that they’d technically already worked with Han Solo, since a Lego version of the iconic smuggler appeared in their film The Lego Movie. Shooting on the Solo film won’t begin until January or February of 2017; in the meantime, here’s the best scene from Hail Caesar!, in which Ehrenreich plays a Western actor unsuccessfully making his way into melodrama:"

Ehrenreich was the best thing about Hail, Caesar, but I'm really not that interested in a Han Solo prequel despite him being one of my favorite characters in the SW universe.

abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/rogue-star-wars-story-burning-questions/story?id=41328053'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story': 7 Burning Questions The new "Rogue One" trailer aired last night during the Olympics and the 2-minute clip offers a lot for "Star Wars" fans. There is still a lot of mystery surrounding the standalone "Star Wars" film, but I invited a novice of the famed films to check out the clip and ask questions.
Hopefully our answers will help "Stars Wars" newbies to get a better grasp of a galaxy far, far away!

I love that Mads was in that trailer more that once. His character has been so intriguing because we knew so little about him.

I'm going to see Rogue One tomorrow and the wait has been awful. I do love that There's apparently a Star Wars Rebels Easter Egg in there, and that they page "General Sydulla" at one point. That's awesome.

Everyone in the completely packed - not one empty seat - clapped at the very last scene. This stand alone story shoe horned perfectly. TBH, the video I posted 'what to know before seeing Rogue One' really helped me understand some things. It's been a while since I had seen the 70's movies.

Vader building his castle on Mustafar is a very twisted Vader thing to do. I like that they brought up the urgency of passing the Death Star plans. When I saw A New Hope, I didn't think that it happened RIGHT before we saw Leia put the plans in R2, but now we know it did.

www.rollingstone.com/movies/news/why-rogue-one-is-superior-to-the-force-awakens-w456727 The writing team of John Knoll, Gary Whitta, Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy built the entire storyline around an old fanboy joke: Why in Palpatine's name would the Empire make its ultimate weapon, the Death Star, go supernova with a single well-placed shot?
I really enjoyed this article. I'm going to re-watch the 70's Star Wars films and re-watch Rogue One.

I finally saw Rogue One (in IMAX 3d) this week, and the theatre was packed despite the movie's having been out for a little while now. I really enjoyed it, possibly even more so than The Force Awakens, which I also really enjoyed. The tie-in with the original trilogy IMO was what really made this movie work. If you saw the original movies, even though you knew what the ultimate outcome was in advance, you knew the vital importance of those plans -- and Rogue One served to highlight that importance even more graphically by demonstrating up close and personal the Death Star's deadly impact. I was actually impressed at the amount of tension the movie managed to create despite the predetermined conclusion, right down to that Vader in the hallway scene. My WTH moment came after the movie, which I had watched with my 70-something mother, when she asked me what I thought happened to the pair on the beach -- because the giant wave of impending death rushing toward them didn't make that clear enough... I guess. Oh mom...

"More than a week after rumors first circulated that Woody Harrelson was in talks to play a “mentor role” in the upcoming young Han Solo movie, it’s now official. Disney and Lucasfilm announced today that the actor will join Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, and Emilia Clarke in the upcoming Star Wars anthology film, which is scheduled for release in 2018.The film, which does not yet have a synopsis or even a proper title, takes place between Star Wars: Episode III and the original Star Wars and will follow the early exploits of the character originated by Harrison Ford. While we don’t yet know who Harrelson will play in the film, at least one plausible theory is that he’ll be taking on the role of the Expanded Universe’s Garris Shrike, a bounty hunter–turned–pirate who took a young Solo under his wing..." link
