I watched, over the weekend, the first 3 episodes of HBO's The Young Pope yesterday, with Jude Law, James Cromwell and Diane Keaton. I need to rewatch the episodes again because it is not at all a straightforward show. There are time skips, flashbacks but still a terrific view. One thing I love are the opening credits which change with each episode. In the third ep, the Pope walks past famous works of art with a moving meteor passing through each painting as he passes by. Very clever. I think you would enjoy that sequence honkytonkwoman. I would love that!

The Young Pope is so weird. It has these moments that are hysterical then it just get so slow.

Curious to hear what you think after watching it Rosie. I've only watched the first episode - not sure how I feel about it. Will continue watching it and report back.

I'm finally watching The People vs OJ Simpson as it's started streaming on Netflix. It was such a huge hit at the Emmys that I was bummed I missed it while it originally aired. It's good so far, I'm half way through.

Finished watching Z: The Beginning of Everything. And I enjoyed the TV series. I thought Christina Ricci was really good in as Zelda.

Rosie, the first episode is VERY confusing, the second a bit better. It really takes till the third episode to get it all straight as there are so many characters but then it starts taking off and the last half is really good. I wouldn't have stuck with it if I didn't know this up front so I hear your uncertainty...try it

I watched FX's Legion pilot last night. It was really well done. I'm interested in seeing how much they tie it into the X-Men universe.

I know nothing about the X-Men universe but I am intrigued by this show. Yeah, you definitely don't need to know anything about X-Men (aside from what a mutant is) to get it. I haven't been a fan of the rebooted X men series, so I'm okay with this being separate too.

Ha!Ha! I don't know what a mutant is in the X-Men Uni but I'm hoping the show will clue me in. I was intrigued when I learned Noah Hawley was doing this. I love his work on Fargo. I also like Jean Smart.

I was in college when it all went down and I even remember where I was when OJ and Al were speeding down the freeway in the white bronco. When I first heard the news I thought the person was joking. There was no way in hell OJ was in a car threatening to kill himself. The themes of race, gender, and class we see in the miniseries are exactly how it played out across the country. The issues weren't new; they were just magnified by the high profile case. And unfortunately, the same racist, sexist, and classist shit continues today,

And unfortunately, the same racist, sexist, and classist shit continues today, I never realized how much race played into the verdict. I grew up in bumblefuck nowhere Midwest with mostly white people. No one talked about "they let him off because he was black" or the racist LAPD here. It was just "they got it wrong" or they talked about the glove. Never anything deeper.

I'm re-watching the Sopranos. An excellent series in so many, many ways, but I don't know what I was the thinking the first time around - because this time - I have been almost shocked at how cruel & disgusting some of the main characters that I loved before - really are! Does that ever happen to anyone else? You see (or read) something once and go back 10-15 years later to re-visit and even if you still love it - you just don't identify with it in the same way that you remembered?
I'm watching Colony (kind of "potato chippy" - definitely not a deep story), but I still love the actor who played Sawyer on Lost and SWC is okay - she's playing another Lori-like role.
Also trying to watch the Young Pope & Taboo - both very strange, but intriguing enough stories & characters to keep me coming back - I want to find out where they are going with the storylines.

Sexual Chocolate , dark sister and Ripley I watched the OJ series when it aired. Top notch actors who portrayed Chris Darden and Marcia Clark. Sterling K Brown is one of the top actors on the current series "This is Us". He's amazing. I too remember the Bronco chase. I was at work the day the verdict was announced October 1995. I lived the closest to our workplace so a bunch of my management co-workers came to my house over for a ... ahem ... long lunch hour so we could watch the verdict. The big boss was with us. We were all stunned! Dead silence in my LR. Another murder trial verdict that left me equally as shocked was the Casey Anthony trial.

I was working at a law firm when the verdict was reached and everyone was packed in a conference room when the verdict was read. Everyone in the room knew he was getting off, but the room was dead silent and then everyone trickled out of the room. Good times.

Just sat down with a cup of coffee and catching David Morrissey's 2008 Doctor Who episode. He;d be a great replacement for Peter Capaldi IMO. Hard to believe he did the Basic Instinct 2 film.

Rosie Sexual Chocolate I don't think anyone thought he was getting off where I was from (pastey white small town Midwest) lol Watching OJ: Made in American was also a really fascinating companion piece for that series. But it was wild to watch one of the jury members admit she voted not guilty as payback for Rodney King. Casey Anthony was another one that really surprised me. I thought they would've had enough reasonable to get a hung jury.
