dark sister Why did they burn the house down? What did it matter if people found the abandoned house? For dramatic effect I guess. It was stupid because they probably just sent several creeps in their direction.

I didn’t mind that movie at all. Was wondering has anyone seen the new Resident Evil movie. I saw the others and this one seems to be getting panned everywhere.

Love horror, my media collection is like 90% horror Argento's Demons 1 & 2 Romero's Original Night of the living dead Trilogy. The Original Martyrs High Tension aka switchblade romance. I just noticed your post about Argento's "Demons" 1& 2. Back in the day, my sister and I had watched the 1st one and enjoyed it. She later rented 1 and 2. We decided to smoke some marijuana while watching both . That was a big mistake. We started with the 1st one. We were so traumatized and frightened we had to shut the movie off. Neither of us has been able to watch it again...I still get uncomfortable thinking about it. Years later I recommended Demons to a guy friend who was looking for a good horror movie for the weekend. He was all alone in a big farmhouse in the country. He also didn't drink or smoke. He later admitted that he was so freaked out he couldn't finish the movie. He said watching it alone was not the best idea...

I can't wait to see Get Out which just earned rare 100% at arotten Tomatoes "The actor Jordan Peele is best known for his comedy, or his impression of former President Barack Obama. That may change this weekend, based on early reviews of his inaugural film ― a fusion of comedy and horror set to debut in the U.S. on Friday. “Get Out,” a psychological thriller about racism written and directed by Peele, earned a coveted 100-percent score on the film review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes. That means that all reviews for the film on the site so far ― 40, as of Wednesday evening ― are positive. To put that into perspective, only four films of hundreds released in 2016 earned a 100-percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes." Yes, I'm seeing it this weekend. I haven't decided yet if I want to see it with a mostly black audience or go to my local theater. I may have to see it twice to experience both.

I'm hoping to see this next week as well. Go to the theater you think will have the best audience reactions, I remember when I saw Prisoners in theaters, the audience I was in was freaking out the entire time because of the suspense. I loved it.

I loved it. Then's that an easy decision. Audiences can be a curse though. When I saw Wild, I sat next to a lady who was so sure that Reese Witherspoon's character was going to get raped at some point. Every time she met a man she was like 'ohh here it comes" I finally turned to her and was like "There's no rape in this movie. Calm down."

Is anyone planning on seeing "Life" when it comes out this weekend? I haven't heard any advance reviews about it, but it sounds like my kind of movie.

I'm getting "Alien" vibes, with a slight twist of a small innocent-looking life form. It's got a good cast going for it too!

darkandstormy It does look good but I was thisclose to not seeing it when I thought the black guy was going to bite it early on. Glad to see he survives a little longer.

Hopefully the brother will be the exception to the scary movie rule that black folks die early and badly. I'm also liking his Lennie James-type British accent! I'm a sucker for a man with a British accent!

Oh yeah, the accent is hot as hell. I can listen to Lennie, Andrew, and the guy in the trailer talk all day. Basically, I'm a hoe for accents.

I thought about Red, White, and Blue today. That's one of the most disturbing horror movies I've seen in recent memory.
I also recently watched The Eyes of my Mother for the first time, that was disturbing as well.

Coming late to the party, but I just watched Train to Busan... And wow. Now those are zombies done right, with dramatic moments done right. Zombies that can sprint? Turning's happening almost immediately upon infection? Unarmed civilians who didn't see anything coming? There's a level of intensity and suspence from that that doesn't come from, say, zombies that move at a pace equal to someone walking while straddling a bicycle, people who take a goodly amount of time to die such that they can be prevented from turning with a bullet of stabbing to the head, and herds that can be seen well in advance.
Once the complex parent/child relationship was established, the pace and intensity were nigh unrelenting. And that ending? It did me in completely -- and I don't typically cry when watching movies. With that... Perhaps what impressed me most was how the writer / director managed to capture great emotional beats even despite the movie's overall pace.
TWD could learn a thing or two (or twenty) from this film.

dark sister I found the original 'It' kinda cheesy and not scary at all. The clown in the new remake looks to be alot more frightening physically than the original one.

dark sister I found the original 'It' kinda cheesy and not scary at all. The clown in the new remake looks to be alot more frightening physically than the original one. That's why I'm so pumped for it. It was a creepy book that deserved a creepy movie and the original was very campy. This one looks like it's going to legitimately be scary. I was worried because the kids' story in the book took place in the 50's but they changed it to the 80's. It doesn't seem so bad in the trailer. Hopefully this does well so the adult story gets greenlit.
