www.digitalspy.com/tv/the-walking-dead/news/a837572/the-walking-dead-season-8-teasers-carol-badass/One of the problems some viewers had with The Walking Dead's seventh season was how under-utilised Carol Peletier was. "Her entire storyline has prepared her for this. She's ready," showrunner Scott Gimple told TVLine, discussing the All Out War. "The strength and bravery that she shows as a person this season and the ingenuity that she employs... is very satisfying." "There are some intense times ahead for Ezekiel," Gimple explained. "Carol is not going to be surprised about the difficulty and brutality that they're facing. Ezekiel is a little more new to this. The contrast will be pretty stark."

I'm of two minds about this. I love smart, capable, badass Carol but those type of scenes really don't give Melissa a lot to work with where she can really shine. She has mad skills and hasn't been given material of late where she can showcase them. I love vulnerable, emotional Carol too, as long as those emotions are organic and not manufactured by some silly arc like the "I can't kill" nonsense we've endured the past two seasons.
At the very least, I'm definitely excited about MORE Carol.

I really hope old Carol returns and soon. The Carol of last season was pathetic.

My complaint about how Carol was portrayed last year would have been that Carol was so rarely shown. I kinda enjoyed that Carol was ready to go out and survive on her own. The Carol that fell apart when Rick banished has grown into a woman who can stand on her own feet. I also enjoy watching all the men fall over their feet to please her. About darn time. I loved that Carol was so happy to see Daryl again, but she didn't attempt to go go back to Alexandria. Her return to warrior mode was her choice and not pushed on her. I don't care if she moves back to Alexandria as long as she is given a good storyline and lots of screen time. (I don't want her with Ezekiel though. I'm still Caryl all the way.)
