Um... Don't hate me, but Littlefinger has been my favourite since his first appearance. I even have this shirt and this figure I read the books first. I like him better in them. He just seems smarter and less likely to be fooled. I'm still a little behind in the show. I didn't see it, but I know what happened. He was the ultimate player and I always wanted him to win.

blackjack I like him better in the books. In the show the accent throws me off (Aidan Gillen is a great actor, it's just the accent he uses for LF). Such a superficial reason, I know, but it tends to pull me out of some of his scenes. He was off my radar for quite a while since S4, even his few appearance since then didn't register so his death was quite anticlimactic. I'll always enjoy the earlier scenes, though. Particularly this one:

Particularly this one: I love that scene, as well. I have no problem at all with the accent. I've honestly never thought about it. I also like the actor. My only real problem with the show's version, is Petyr's intellect. It's almost insulting to the character. This is close to how I feel about it. www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2016/06/3-reasons-why-littlefinger-is-way-worse-in-the-sho.htmlI loved his mocking of Ned in the beginning. That instantly made him my favourite. I was a little disappointed that that was cut out of the show. Despite all my complaints. I really do enjoy it and he's my favourite in both.

blackjack, I love that article - thanks for sharing! I do like that the show has made Cersei a bit smarter and cunning than book Cersei, so I didn't mind at all that she had one over him in that scene. Littlefinger also made quips in the books, so I didn't see that scene as going against his intelligence. I'm just keeping my hopes up that GRRM misdirected D&D and the books will be entirely different plot-wise. He's as much said that, so hopefully it's the truth.

zinc Yeah, GRRM has repeatedly said that the show will not spoil the books and I believe him. It's driving me nuts waiting for the next book. I'm rereading the others right now. I did enjoy that scene. It was rather amusing. I agree with you. I'm not a fan of Cersei, but it is nice to see her more cunning. This doesn't have much to do with Littlefinger. There are some characters who look or sound different in my mind when reading the books and some whose actor I picture. I never picture Aiden Gillen when reading. He has a completely different look in my mind. You know who I always picture the actor of; Varys. This goes for both look and voice. I've never heard of him before, but I love Conleth Hill in this part. I can't imagine anyone else.

So a lot of the characters were fixed as the actors in my mind, even when I read the heavily conflicting descriptions of characters like Jorah and Tyrion, lol. I know the Mad King had an appearance on the show, but I've always picture Mads Mikkelsen. Those beautiful Danish reptilian features combined with gorgeous high cheekbones make the perfect Valyrian mathc. And for Rhaegar, I've always imagined a young Cillian Murphy, who is basically the complete picture of the features I'm attracted to in a man lol. Cheekbones that can cut ice.

I admit, I have no idea who those guys are, although Mads Mikkelsen looks very familiar. I don't recognise the other one, at all. That being said, he's actually remarkably close to what I imagine Rhaegar looking like. It's almost scary how close. I honestly can't think of an actor who actually looks like I picture Littlefinger looking. I have a very distinct look in actor.

blackjack you probably recognize Mads Mikkelsen from Hannibal. I had first seen him in Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky but he's far more cheekbone-y and elegant looking in Hannibal (sadly never got around to watching it because a creepy loser I know who can't even understand simple shows like TWD ruined it for me lol). And if you've seen 28 days later, Cillian stars in it. If you haven't seen it, I 100% recommend it.
