www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/sean-astin-new-barb-stranger-season-2-article-1.3378115Could Barb be reincarnated in Season 2? By that we mean, will fans be able to latch onto another surprise fan favorite when “Stranger Things” returns to Netflix on Oct. 27? The very least the creators — the Duffer Brothers — can do is provide #JusticeForBarb, right? Well, according to the brothers and episode director Shawn Levy, that justice could be served in the form of Sean Astin’s character Bob in Season 2, according to Screen Rant. Astin, who played Samwise Gamgee in “The Lord of the Rings,” Mikey Walsh in “The Goonies” and the lead character in “Rudy,” is a featured player in the show’s sophomore effort — and the people behind the show think fans will adore him. Will that love surpass the amount they felt for Shannon Purser’s Barb last summer? To be fair, Barb was largely a secondary character. In any other show, she might’ve even been forgettable. But she sparked a “movement” after the Duffer Brothers sort of glossed over her bleak fate in the Upside Down.

Great piece, thanks for posting walkingdeadrules! COnfession- I did not watch Stranger Things until recently, so I was a bit puzzled after all the "Barb is alive!", "Bring back Barb" comments I saw on social media (earlier) given her early disappearance and death on the show. I did like the character and wish she had been on the journey a lot longer though. I like Sean Astin, he has a lot of good work in his career so I hope he gets a great role in season 2.
