With the recent trailer release of "Call Me By Your Name" it reminded me that I meant to make this topic a lot earlier.
What are some of your favorite LGBT+ films?

1980s: Torch Song Trilogy, Longtime Companion, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Victor/Victoria, The Times of Harvey Milk, Before Stonewall.
1990s: Boys Don't Cry, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, My Own Private Idaho, Gods and Monsters, Philadelphia, The Opposite of Sex, Midnight in The Garden of Good and Evil (underrated film IMO), Jeffrey, #To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Edward II.
2000- Present: Milk, Brokeback Mountain (Anne Hathaway never got deserved acclaim for her role IMO), The Broken Hearts Club, Tom Ford's A Single Man, A Home at the end of the World, The Hours, Before Night Falls, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, If These Walls Could Talk 2, Prayers for Bobby, Confusion, Were the World Mine, Midnight, Imagine Me and You (Lena Headey film - great and underrated).
I'll add more later, lol.

Transamerica remains prolly my favourite LGBT movie. Weekend is a close second - it brought a simple, authentic style and feeling that the genre was somewhat lacking. It also has a great soundtrack.

murph I need to give Transamerica another shot. I was salty about it during Oscar season because Felicity Huffman was getting all these nominations and everyone completely forgot how brilliant Cillian Murphy and Breakfast on Pluto were.

Oh you absolutely have to! I'd like to think that if it was made now that it would have been a trans woman playing the part, but she did a great job. And it's just a great movie. Kevin Zegers is one of my favourite actors (I like fucked up indie movies and he has a long list of them lol) Also, the fact that Dolly Parton does the music video for it just makes me a bit happy lol.

I've seen a few indies he's been in! Stone Angel, Frozen, etc. I do tend to like those darker films too. Mysterious Skin is one of my favorites (Joseph Gordon-Levitt is my favorite actor) even though it's really hard to sit through at times. It's just a fascinating and well made story. And Gregg Araki is an interesting director.

You should look into the movie Normal maybe. He's in that. I think you might like that. After you've watched Transamerica that is! lol. I want to have a watch of it now. His character in Transamerica is potentially a queer one too. It's not really ever actually explored, which I always thought was interesting in itself. He has gay sex, but in terms of what he actually wants and his defined sexuality, it's not really said.

I had to go back and look at my notes for that movie as it's been seven years since I've seen it. I thought it was a bit messy and that they didn't explain enough at times.
