Welcome, welcome! Just thought I'd make a few suggestions to help keep the conversations going. 1. Before you start a thread for a movie, check quickly to see if one has already been started. That way we can continue conversations about a specific movie all together. If I see where a new post fits in with an old conversation that has drifted off the first page, I may merge the posts together. 2. Please add articles and video clips if you find something new to share. 3. Try not to spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it. If you have a spoiler, please mark it in the subject of the post if you are creating one and hide it in your post. I love spoilers, but let's try to respect the rights of others not to be spoiled! To tag a spoiler, use the brackets [ ] - put spoiler in between the brackets. Type your spoiler, then put /spoiler again in brackets. It will hide that information to look like this: See how easy that is? 4. Constructive criticism is welcome!

Since we are close to Halloween I'd love to have fun with things like a favorite Vincent Price or Monster film topic. The Hammer films too maybe? Or the best special effects? Just a thought- this is your area, so whatever you decide is always fine and perfect. Bravekat

I watched the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with Spencer Tracy on TCM the other night - wonderful!

I will never forget The Mummy with Boris Karloff - that creeping hand - scared me to death! I was only a child! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mummy_%281932_film%29Karl Freund, the cinematographer on Dracula, was hired to direct two days before filming began. The film was retitled The Mummy. He cast Zita Johann, who believed in reincarnation, he also named her character 'Ankh-es-en-Amon' after the only wife of Pharaoh Tutankhamun. The real Ankhesenamon's body had not been discovered in the tomb of King Tut and her resting place was unknown, her name however would not have been unknown to the general public and no doubt drew people's attention in the post Tutankhamoun era. Filming was scheduled for three weeks. Karloff's first day was spent shooting the Mummy's awakening from his sarcophagus. Make-up artist Jack Pierce had studied photos of Seti I's mummy to design Imhotep; however, Karloff looked nothing like the mummy of Seti I in the film, instead bearing a resemblance to the mummy of Ramesses III. Pierce began transforming Karloff at 11 a.m., applying cotton, collodion and spirit gum to his face; clay to his hair; and wrapping him in linen bandages treated with acid and burnt in an oven, finishing the job at 7 p.m. Karloff finished his scenes at 2 a.m., and another two hours were spent removing the make-up. Karloff found the removal of gum from his face painful, and overall found the day "the most trying ordeal I [had] ever endured".[2] Although the images of Karloff wrapped in bandages are the most iconic taken from the film, Karloff only appears on screen in this make-up for a few minutes; the rest of the film sees him wearing less elaborate make-up.
Are you kidding me? I remember him being wrapped in bandages the entire time! Silly child!

Since it's November and that's Thanksgiving Month for those of us in the states, I'm going to recommend some movies that takes place on Thanksgiving - The Vicious Kind, and Pieces of April. Both wonderful little indies that should be seen.

Pieces of April is a great film imo. It is! You should check out The Vicious Kind too. It's nice to see Adam Scott in a drama like that.

I'd like to suggest that we just include everything relevant to a particular movie under one thread. For example, all the Star Wars stuff should just go into one. Until we get more members commenting, I feel that spreading the content over multiple threads is more likely to cause people to not comment. I'm about to start a Star Wars thread but then I see so many going already with low views and no replies that I wonder if I should start this. Having one thread uniting all of them would be better I think.

(Sorry I was MIA - real life kicked my butt for a while, but things have settled down now!)
