General discussion thread for The Flash. Definitely one of the best teams on TV!

The family/friendship dynamics on The Flash are pretty much all awesome. They really are. It continually challenges the traditional idea of 'family' and I love that. But the West family dynamic especially - the role of Joe West is something just so damn wonderful to see on TV. The casting of Jesse L. Martin was definitely a reason why I was excited for The Flash TV adaption. It was definitely not a casting/character switch I was expecting and it was so exciting. And the show has completely delivered beyond any expectation I had from that casting alone. I remember an article a couple years ago that talked about Joe's role, and that "The Flash was built on a foundation of black fatherhood". And the way the show has managed to do that storyline and still incorporate Barry's father into the dynamic, who is also just such a good father like Joe is, without having to have one of them be the 'real' one or any kind of shit like that, without dismissing the importance or the contribution of the other; that they have all existed together, and just widened the idea of 'family', from two 'broken families'. It's just something so brilliant and worth celebration to me.

Everybody likes Honest Trailers, right? The Flash one is pretty good.
"From the network that brought you Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl and Girlfriends, and the executive producer of Dawson's Creek, see the CW's attempt to finally score the boy demographic; The Flash. When Arrow started taking itself way too seriously, it was time to dust off one of DC's campiest heroes for a spin off that combines the most ridiculous stuff from the comics with soap opera drama. Wacky villains, bright colours and ridiculous sci-fi in a show that really shouldn't work but somehow ended up being...super fun? Holy crap, am I Flash fan now? I am! Run faster, Barry! You run at that giant shark-man!" lol
