Not sure where they are going with this character. While my gut tells he is just a small supporting character that they are waiting for the right time to off for dramatic impact, he is a younger, good looking and fit guy who is clearly capable of making it in the apocalypse and being a real asset. There are many woman he could woo, and he is Deanna's son who all the characters on the show were very fond of(which is why I think they will off for him for that dramatic impact when the time is right). I'm thinking he makes it into season 7 though...
But then they did try to portray him as a bit of a douche in the beginning of the season...

I agree the path isn't clear for him even though Spencer was also a bit unsavory in the comic. My head hopes he gets development, but my instincts say he'll be stirring up Something with Rosita possibly before he leaves the show. I liked the AN character on Friday Night Lights-another bit part as an English-journalism teacher.

I'm officially strongly, strongly disliking Spencer now. What a friggin' ass! Not only he blames Rick, but he seems to think that he could do better than Rick. Pffft. What did that loser ever do to contribute? Pretty much nothing.

I'm not a Spencer fan.. but after "Service" I found myself agreeing and understanding Spencer more. Since Rick came to ASZ, Spencer has lost his whole family and now his home is gone to.
The end between between Rick and Spencer I was rooting for Spencer. Rick went from acting like Negan's bitch, to being a cocky shit with Spencer. because he sees Spencer as weak.

Spncer remains an enigma to me given his bath and forth between doing good things and his own weaknesses. He got the ASZ folks to stop looting but then stokcpiled food himself. He crossed the line to the towner to save Tara but later snarked and sniped to Rosita about Rick's choice. Spencer's choice to Rosita to say that to was insensitive given her loss of Abe and Glenn since she was close to both. So while we know in the comic, Spencer has a cowards' death Death Killed By Negan While Rick is at The Kingdom meeting with Ezekiel, Negan stops by at the Alexandria Safe Zone. He is told that Rick is busy gathering supplies, so Negan decides to rest at one of the vacant houses. Spencer approaches Negan and tells him that Rick isn't fit to be the leader and that he should be killed. Negan requests that Spencer walk with him so they could talk about Rick. Negan then proceeds to talk about how Rick is out gathering supplies so that he wouldn't hurt anyone while Spencer had waited until Rick was gone so he could talk to him and told him to do his dirty work, and that he has no guts. Finally, Negan swiftly slices open Spencer's stomach with a knife, leaving his guts hanging out of his open stomach. walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/Spencer_Monroe_(Comic_Series) I doubt he will be missed by anyone and simply fade away into "redshirt with some minor interest, dialogue and PR value" on the show

Yeah I agree, No one is going to care when Spencer dies. It probably the reason why SG had Spencer and Rosita hook up. Very similar to why he had Abe and Sasha hook up. SG is thinking if he has characters react to the deaths then it will effect the GA feelings on the deaths.
