"...Adana means Easter eggs, which have for decades been a staple of TV shows, films, and videos games. Easter eggs would typically include a phone number in a scene that, when dialed, led to an automated message, or a URL address that was actually a real website. “You rarely see IP addresses that go anywhere,” says Adana. After he joined the crew, and particularly when he was promoted before the second season from assistant to the show’s lead technical consultant, Adana thought about how Mr. Robot could flip television’s paradigm—to essentially create an alternate reality that exists within the show and is occurring in real-time. “It is like the 2016 version of a choose your own adventure book,” he says. “One that gives you some illusion of control over the story.” Conceptually, Adana’s goal seems simple: Any number, QR code, bar code, host name, or IP address that appears on the show also has a counterpart in real life. Plug that information into a browser, and you’ll go to a website. Freeze frame a scene, scan the code, and it will lead somewhere. (Decider has a good breakdown of many of these Easter eggs here.) Though the phone numbers are fake—Adana says NBCUniversal warned him of the risks of using real phone numbers—everything else is accessible in some form. “I wanted to give the viewer as much control of this story as possible, and have them really feel like they are a part of this narrative,” says Adana. He continues, “You can log on to these sites, and then recreate and relive some of the hacks you see on the show. You can solve problems, and find codes hidden in the source code, or you can take answers from different Easter eggs and put them together, which will lead you somewhere else. It might give you a little bit of a hint for what is to come in the story. And usually, it doesn’t stop at the first page. Even if it is an ad for something, or if it is a very simple page, there is something else on that page that will lead you somewhere else..." Link

Last night's episode was AMAZING! I was so stressed out by the end of it though. Like, Breaking Bad levels of stress.
And Angela and Elliot...FINALLY!

What a terrific episode last night! The music kept building the tension. Only the cold open seemed a bit meh to me. "And yet, despite knowing what was coming — or because of it — my heart was pounding in my ears in those final seconds, as Agent Dom realized her quarry was just a few feet away. What happened was inevitable, but the inexorable nature of the scene in no way diminished its power. The still, fixed eye of the camera meant that there was no way to avoid it. We couldn’t look away, and we didn’t want know — I didn’t want to, because I had to know how it turned out. Like the characters, we were trapped inside a nightmare and we couldn’t get away. We knew what was coming, and yet they didn’t, not until the machine gun came out, and then — for them — it all happened too fast. The episode had built up so much suspense by that point that in a way, we needed the release of what occurred. And yet we have to wait until next week to see if Darlene and Cisco survived. Agent Dom appeared to duck just before the shooter began firing, and obviously she emerged from the diner unharmed, but it’s unlikely everyone who was in that restaurant at that moment emerged unscathed And once the alert went out to the media with Cisco’s picture, another dangerous element — the Dark Army — was added to this combustible mix. Spare a thought for “Mr. Robot’s” editor, John Petaja, and director/creator Sam Esmail, who directed the whole season, including this episode. This episode very skillfully cut between Dom and the fsociety duo, meticulously ramping up the tension until — bam. Explosion. I do love an episode of television that changes my heart rate even before the explosion arrives, and this one did that. That’s partly due to the other threads of tension and dread that ran through this hour. Mac Quayle’s music reinforced the melancholy and anxiety that coursed between Angela and Elliot as they stared at each other on the train. When Angela began speaking — asking Elliot why he started fsociety — he was startled, and so was I: Was she wearing a wire? Had she already gone to the feds and worked out a deal to turn him in? Or were the two people who confronted her at the end of that scene cops or federal agents who wanted to question her again? link

The last shot was amazing, it was so perfectly staged and executed. I loved Angela and Elliot on the train too. It was a very intimate moment but I felt the same way the reviewer did for a split second. Did she have a wire? She'd never do that to Elliot.

Loved last night's episode. Only two more this season. Did not realize there was an after show. Actors who portray Darlene, Elliot, Mr Robot, Angela and Dom appeared. Good follow up. Anyone else watch the after show? www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/mr-robot-hidden-process-cliffhanger-926382Regarding the part in the episode where Elliot's apartment is 'panned' and he asks his friend (us) for help to solve the Tyrell mystery ... the writer/producer Kor Adana gave a clue. "Honestly, I've been waiting for this moment for months. I'm so glad this ended up in an episode I got to write. This level of interaction is very much in the spirit of our digital Easter Eggs that are hidden throughout the series. Elliot asking for our help elevates the relationship we have with him. It gives us an opportunity to get ahead of him and solve a mystery, which is something our audience is very good at. We want our audience to be able to "hack" the show... and that can come from a technical, psychological, or narrative place. Inviting the audience to help in this way makes this show a real, interactive experience. It goes way beyond entertainment that's being passively consumed. It makes you a part of the story.
With that in mind, how much should we study this scene? Care to point at any particular corners of the room we should pay close attention to?
I'll do my Best tO be helpful here. There is definiTely a hinT in this scene. I dOn't know if I should tell you what Main corner to look in, oR if the hInt is even in the corner of the frame, but Go aHead and study that scene to see whaT you can find."
(Bottom Right - anyone notice the clue? I need to re-watch) .

Second to last episode in Season 2 was very strange. 1. Mind Awake ... Body Sleeping. Were certain parts of this episode Elliot's dream? 2. Don't know if Darlene/Cisco made it but we did learn the 'clue' Tyrell left in Elliot's apartment. 3. I wish I could see a English translation of the taxi driver's Arabic dialogue 4. Anonymous Woman and Anonymous Man always seen in credits - the two that drove Angela to meet White Rose? 5. BD Wong is a great actor - I did not realize he was in Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. I saw both of course but never made the connection when he appeared on Mr. Robot. www.avclub.com/tvclub/reality-itself-debate-strangest-mr-robot-yet-242617"Remember the one thing Angela and Elliot never got to do? It was just sit on his couch, smoke pot, and watch Back To The Future II. Angela’s journey in the back of a van began with her captors turning up the volume on Jimmy Forrest’s “Night Train,” the song first playing in that movie back in 1955, at the “Enchantment Under The Sea” dance. And Elliot, at episode’s end, walks off into the urban horizon arm-in-arm with Tyrell, to the strains of “Earth Angel”—the tune that ushered Marty McFly back to existence from the precipice of disappearing into nothing. Angela and Elliot don’t have to watch the movie, because they’re living their own unique version of it."

I really liked the Angela/Whiterose scene. It was so intense and well done. I also felt so sad when Dom was talking to her OS. She's so lonely.
Regarding Tyrell, he better not be another figment of Elliot's imagination like Mr. Robot is. That's the one thing I've always hoped for and last night made me think it might just happen, that Elliot's imagining him.

At first I thought the scenes with Angela/Little Girl were part of Elliot's dream (if he did indeed dream).
Probably due to the old Commodore computer and old phone.
Do you think Darlene/Cisco are still alive? Dom said 'many people died' in the diner.

"...Elliot survives the gunshot, at least for now, based on the phone call between Tyrell and Angela. Can you explain the choice to at least somewhat resolve Elliot's fate and not leave it as a cliffhanger? Esmail: For me, it was never about... as weird as this may come, coming from me, because I do love suspense, I'm never about withholding things arbitrarily. If we're not going to pay it off with something new that could be impactful, or if the way we're going to pay it off isn't going to be impactful, it doesn't service me to withhold it just for the sake of surprising people. At the end of the day, I don't think anyone would have been surprised that Elliot is going to return in season three. Honestly, the bigger cliffhanger for me, if you want to call it a cliffhanger, is Angela's involvement, and her complicity in all of this. That's the bigger question mark I wanted to leave for the audience. link

I don't feel angry or disappointed either, IMO THAT is how you do a cliffhanger. I'm eager for next season. It's the exact opposite of what TWD achieved.

I've read about 8 reviews of last night's finale. Some were 'meh' on the 'reveals' and the finale in general. For example: www.vulture.com/2016/09/mr-robot-season-two-finale.htmlWhy Mr. Robot’s Big Reveals Were So DisappointingI plan to re-watch the season - need to pay more attention to Dom - were there more clues in her performances about the depth of the investigation? Darlene summed it up for me when the saw the whiteboard - shocked the FBI had Elliot in their cross hairs. Angela? Another big shock. Apparently there was a lot more involved between her and Whiterose. Loved seeing Leon at the end with Mobley and Trenton. Season 3 - Bring it on! BTW: I did see Erik Jensen in the credits the last few episodes but I'm not sure I actually caught him in the episodes. Another reason to re-watch.

Wow- great news! "Mr. Robot’ Season 3 Gets October Premiere, Adds Bobby Cannavale and Ups BD Wong to Series Regular" "Mr. Robot” Season 3 will premiere in October, Variety has learned. And when creator Sam Esmail’s twisty hacker thriller returns in the fall for Season 3, it’ll be with Bobby Cannavale joining the cast and BD Wong as a series regular. Cannavale will play Irving, a laconic, no-nonsense used car salesman. (As for how a used car salesman plays into the the framework of the season, that remains to be seen.) Cannavale’s last series regular role was as the lead on HBO’s “Vinyl.” Wong, previously a guest star, drew rapt reviews for his performance as transgender hacker Whiterose (a.k.a Chinese Minister of State Security Zheng), part of the Dark Army hacker group. “Whiterose has so much presence and there is so much intelligence and even amusement behind her eyes. She’s really one of the best things about this show,” Variety‘s Mo Ryan wrote late in Season 2...." link

I am so pissed off that this show will be back only in October...which is going to be an insanely busy month for me. 1st world problems but I've re-watched these past 2 seasons so many times people at school associate me with the show and I know almost every line. Gonna be rewatching it another 5 times until S3 then.

Since TWD may preview again towards the end of the month, maybe things will sus out for your schedule zinc? I hope so anyway. I may try to find some spoilers for season 3 after we complete the site transition.

I may try to find some spoilers for season 3 after we complete the site transition. I'm not really even planning to watch TWD on a regular basis. Usually it's one show at a time so I'll be giving up Survivor then. Lol. I'm sad because I have a lot more free time right now and could have enjoyed the show properly. I avoid spoilers for it, though. Worth waiting.
