I'm curious what people wish for Michonne during season 8?
In addition to the Richonne and Grimes Family storylines, I hope Michonne will get some additional story this season and she plays an important part in all Out War (AOW) beyond being Mrs. Rick Grimes.
I like Richonne and support it as Michonne is one of my favorite show characters, but I am feeling the writers may have fallen into that "once a character is part of a couple, their story becomes the couple" as we saw with Glenn and Maggie sadly.
Michonne has had much more character development than Glenn had, so that opens the door for things such as a discussion of Andrea, which I assume they have had off-screen by now. I would love to get more Michone backstory frankly since we last got some in season 4-B.
Since Richonne discussed Maggie carrying the future and the need for both of them to go on if necessary without the other, plus each had at least one death scare in the finale and two death scares in 7-B IIRC (7.12 and the finale), I would like to see Michonne lead a mission without Rick, to lead as she does so well and with such talents.
How about sending her back to Oceanside if necessary because she would be able to communicate well with every group. Give Michonne something to do on her own and also give Ric something to do without her by his side or present at the event. Characters can be well written or poorly written whether single or part of a relationship. Please, writers, do not make the Gleggie mistake with Richonne!

If there's one thing overall that I'm very eager for, it would be that michonne have more of a role outside of rick. Don't get me wrong, I love richonne and I think rick met his match with her in a variety of important ways, but I can't ignore that she's adding less to the story these days (while still getting decent screen time). DG is a phenomenal actress and has great chemistry with the rest of the cast.l - I want to see her put to good use. I'd love to see her team up with others (sans rick) with a mission, share more of her backstory, or perhaps work through a struggle where we can see her imperfections and layers like we used to a bit more.
This will never happen but I would kind of love for a question of who should be the overall TF leader: michonne or rick. As an audience member, I feel like michonne is obviously a level headed, collaborative, capable fighter and leader....as much as I love rick his leadership role isn't always earned and I always thought it would be interesting if someone actually called that out.

I've been interested in seeing someone challenge Rick's leadership for a long time. It would indeed be an interesting story arc. I'm not sure about Michonne, but more someone new arriving on the scene, someone charismatic and capable who would organically appeal to the townspeople. Not someone seeking power, necessarily, but someone who earns it naturally. How would Rick and/or Michonne respond to that? There's a potentially compelling arc right there.

Gleggie is not the model I want for Richonne. I like Glenn and Maggie individually, but when they only apparently cared about finding each other (and being with each other), they really annoyed me.
Seeing Michonne with Rosita has given me hope for her to have a more complex story. It might turn out that she's looking to rescue Rick, but at least she'll have some interaction with someone other than Rick and Carl. I can't believe I'm saying that because for a long time that's all I wanted. But this show tends to forget about characters ~ and I was feeling that Michonne had been prematurely pigeonholed.
I want to see more of what Michonne does best ~ being an astute judge of character, a supportive friend, a wise strategist and a formidable opponent. Ultimately, I'd like for others to appreciate her, and not just the Grimes.

I'd like for someone of her equal (as in, not Carl) to find out about who Michonne was before they met her. Because it's the Atlanta lot plus Maggie and Michonne as really the core - Michonne is the odd one out in that all the Atlanta group know where each of them come from, and then the same with Maggie obviously seeing as they met her entire family and home. Michonne doesn't have that; they don't know about what her life used to be. I don't want like, insane focus of it; they need to be moving forward, but I would like something. So it's at least known, and she gets to actually talk about it, like pretty much everybody else has. Morgan may be a good opportunity, because I think since Michonne also went through isolation and anger as a response, she could maybe help Morgan snap out of it and finally realise how to function productively as part of a group. But I don't think that will happen. Depending on how Rosita is mentally, maybe Michonne could help her in a similar way to how Deanna helped her, to get Rosita to think about what it is she actually wants to do, and who she wants to be.

I want Michonne to be involved with uniting the communities into some sort of league for common defense and trading. We've all seen her swing her katana but how many times do we need to see that? I'm not a Richonne fan because Michonne has become dull. Keep the couple together (or not) but please let Michonne do something away from both Rick and Carl. Ideally I'd love a storyline that puts Michonne and Carol on some sort of mission. Or Carol and Michonne having a conversation.

I echo a lot of what has been said, I want to see her have stories that don't automatically draw back to the Grimes, but I do want those lovely Richonne moments too.
