I continue to make my way through Netflix offerings, and this is the latest series I binged. Well, sort of binged.
The story is uncomfortable to get through as it goes through the reasons a teen took her life -- the progressive build up, with traumas and ball dropping along the way, to a devastating end result. Throughout the episodes, the ongoing reactions to her death, particularly of her parents and of those who "contributed", are also shown. Overall, it's an effective series; however... I ended up not watching all of the episodes. By just before the midpoint, I was frustrated with the tales of those who seemed somewhat less relevant (the most major players were grouped at the beginning and end) and at not knowing what role the overtly sympathetic and likeable primary male protagonist had played. As a consequence, I skipped to him -- reason 11/13 -- after making it part way through reason 6/11. The character was stuck waiting to hear his part; I wasn't... So I didn't.
Have others watched this series yet? If so... Did I miss anything vital between 6 and 11? What did you think? And, do you think there will be a second season? Apparently, the 13 episode leaves off essentially where the book ends; however, a number of points were left hanging such that it seems as though there's set up for a second season, even with the 13 reasons out of the way. Gleaning more from articles online, it appears the book author and actors feel there's potential for another season. So... Should there be another? And, how many episodes should a second season include? Even with 13 people/reasons to get through, 13 episodes ended up feeling like too many in the first.

I've seen this series. I liked it overall, but I don't think each episode needed to be an hour long. I felt it dragging at times.
There's a lot of controversy surrounding it, and I understand the arguments. Personally, I don't like the excuse of "you're giving my kid ideas!" from television. I don't believe art forms should be censored for reasons like that.
