EW
"...However, there is one man that takes pure grumpiness to a new level, and that man’s name is Gavin, who is the living, breathing personification of perpetually annoyed. Whether he’s annoyed at Ezekiel, annoyed at Richard, annoyed at long-haired Savior Jared, or annoyed at the inaccurate amount of cantaloupes being delivered as an offering, Gavin always seems to have the look of a guy who has “gotten too old for this $#!*!” It is not an accident that Gavin happens to have the look of a constantly disappointed parent because that is exactly the instruction showrunner Scott M. Gimple gave the actor playing him, Jayson Warner Smith. “This character could’ve been a man, it could’ve been a woman we cast — it was completely open casting,” says Gimple. “But when I was working on the character, the vibe that I was going for was this grumpy parent — you know, this parent who has just had it. Not like they don’t love their kids or whatever, but they’re just over everything. And to Jason Warner Smith, I was like, ‘Just be a grumpy dad. You did not sign on for this. You just want to make it to grandma’s house. You will turn that car around and just everybody cool out!’” ...However, there is one man that takes pure grumpiness to a new level, and that man’s name is Gavin, who is the living, breathing personification of perpetually annoyed. Haha. I like this. I think Gavin is potentially the most interesting Savior there is. And the actor is definitely succeeding at the instruction given.

Not gonna lie, I went full Abe when I saw this title. "Who's Gavin?"

I thought of him Sunday as "rat-faced Savor squad leader # 1"

Gavin is the new "Face of the Fandom" with an open ended contract to represent those viewers who, to paraphrase SG, "have just had it. Not that they don't love the show or whatever, but they're just over everything" This actor is doing a good job and the character is interesting, he'll probably be killed off by the end of this season.

Given the lack of Dwight involvement in the Kingdom, does anybody think Gavin could potentially take the turncoat role, at least with The Kingdom side, and maybe Dwight will all be about Alexandria side of things?

The title of this thread reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George tries to look busy by always looking annoyed.

murph, I'd rather see Gavin or even Simon replace Dwight going forward. And this os off topic, but I'm going to if Jerry gets a lot of onscreen mourning when Glenn and Abe have gotten so little. Yes, I'll go straight to my room now, I know.

He's a good guy to just bring out for a quick, happy reaction.

I do take it back. I want Jerry to stick around and hang out for ages to come.

Yeah, Jerry's not allowed to die. I forbid it.

This is great. I liked Gavin. I kind of thought Gavin was one of those who was just tired of all the shit so he's fine with having what one would call an "easy" job within the Sanctuary - go to the Kingdom at regular intervals, where there's this "agreement" where you don't even meet inside the place, you just get the stuff and go. No problems. He wasn't pissed or ready to murder anyone when the melon was missing, "annoyed" was perfectly dead on. He's like, "Shit. All I wanted was to come get the stuff like always, but not only does one of the kids want to be a brat in the sandbox, now one of these Kingdom rubes broke the rules and I have to do something. GDMFSOB."
How many bets that Gavin won't tell Negan or anyone what happened, he'll consider it case closed, because he doesn't want to deal with any more annoying shit? He'll just figure to leave Mr. Long Hair Troublemaker at the compound next time? THEN when the Kingdom comes calling for AOW, it may come back to bite him in the ass and THEN he'll REALLY be annoyed. (rofl)
