I saw this film today with my parents. We all three really enjoyed it. The scenery was gorgeous, the characters funny and touching, and it really touches a nerve for someone like me who is searching for what to do next in life. There's some language in it, Nick Nolte's character is a salty dude. Made me want to spend a week hiking the Appalachian Trial - but no more than a week! I'm not quite that adventurous to think I can hike the trail for months. Redford is still gorgeous sat 79 years old!
The interesting bit of trivia, not only is this based on a true story (though the main characters were 44 at the time, not in their 70s), but that it was originally planned for Paul Newman to play the Nick Nolte part to have one last Redford-Newman movie. Unfortunately, it was tabled when Mr. Newman became ill and then passed away. Not that Nick wasn't brilliant in it, I dearly would have loved to have seen Butch and Sundance back together again!
