FX has set the premiere date - April 19, 2017 @ 10:00 on FX
Variety
FX has set the premiere date for the third season of “Fargo.” The newest installment of the anthology series from writer and executive producer Noah Hawley will debut Wednesday, April 19 at 10 p.m. on the cable channel.
Currently in production in Calgary, the third season of “Fargo” stars Ewan McGregor as twins Emmit and Ray Stussy — Emmit the parking-lot king of Minnesota, Ray a balding, pot-bellied parole officer who blames his brother for his misfortunes. Carrie Coon, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and David Thewlis also star.
The new season is set in the year 2010, making it the most contemporary installment in the crime-drama anthology loosely inspired by the films of Joel and Ethan Coen. Speaking at the Television Critics association press tour in January, executive producer Warren Littlefield said of Hawley’s approach to the season, “Noah is enjoying that technology in many ways is supposed to unite; and, in fact, perhaps that’s not what happens at all. And so I think, visually and aesthetically, you’ll see Noah commenting on a world Carrie [where] has a scene where she’s going to be on a plane, and she notices everyone around her has their heads down and their face in their phone, and no one is communicating. No one is talking, and I think, from her perspective, that seems rather strange. That seems very alien. So Noah is going to have a lot of fun, I think, commenting on and embracing the world as it is almost today.”
“Fargo” won three Primetime Emmy Awards in its first season and two in its second season. The series is executive produced by Hawley, the Coen brothers, Littlefield, and John Cameron. It is produced by MGM Television and FX Productions.

Fargo is baaaaack!! This is going to be a good season. Anyone else watch? I'm wracking my brain trying to figure out how the 1988 opening bit is going to fit into the series - other than the twisted version of the truth theme inherent in the show itself. Maurice and Ray - shaking my damn head! Ewan McGregor and Ewan McGregor! Amazing! Elizabeth Winstead as Nikki Spango! Amazing! David Thewlis - can't think of his name in Fargo! Amazing! Emmy awards not far! I just read this Rolling Stone article about Easter Eggs from Coen brothers films that have placed in TV Fargo so far. www.rollingstone.com/tv/news/fargo-a-guide-to-the-shows-coen-brothers-references-w477546

Fargo is like Better Call Saul in that it takes a few episodes for the story to set up and gel.
I'm liking the slow gelling of the story and the characters.
Hard to believe the actor who plays V.M. Vargas played Professor Lupine in the HP movies. Astonishing talent.
So many talented actors in this series.

The new police officer made me laugh. Bowlegged from all the TP she had to use. Billy Bob Thornton narrating Peter and the Wolf was inspired. Also the wolf being Varga's character - a nod to the actor's role as the Werewolf Wizard in Harry Potter.

It took me forever to place Billy Bob's voice.

That "V.M. Vargas" dude is really a creepy guy !! webergal Agreed! Wonder what's the deal with the purging after he eats? I was just coming here to ask that same question regarding Vargas' purging habit ! When he did the first time I just passed it off as perhaps he wasn't feeling well but it's pretty clear now that he does it every time he eats anything. I'm not quite sure where it fits into the "story." :-/ But last week episode with Vargas and the "coffee mug" was a shock to say the least !! :o

Mr Wrench from Season 1 is back. This time helping Nikki escape. Remember when he was pursuing Lester along with Mr Numbers? Still wearing that fringed jacket. I didn't pick up that he was sitting next to Nikki on the prison bus. What did you think of last night's episode? Is Nikki stalking Emmit? Could be since there is a significant time jump from Christmas Day when Sy is poisoned. Who put the stamp pictures in Emmit's office and parked the Corvette in Emmit's parking spot? Ray reincarnated - orange kitten? Crazy show but I love it! Interview with Elizabeth Winstead: www.hollywoodreporter.com/fien-print/fargo-mary-elizabeth-winstead-interview-1011374

That episode was insane. I loved how brutal the beginning was, but now I'm confused. Are they all dead and in purgatory or something?

That episode was insane. I loved how brutal the beginning was, but now I'm confused. Are they all dead and in purgatory or something? One of the reviewers theorizes they might have been in a sort of "holding" place between earth and heaven/hell. The man (Ray Wise) with "Ray) at the bar (also seen with Carrie Coon on the airplane) might be an angel? I believe Yuri was sent packing to Hell due to what he did to Helga. The other two were given one more chance to redeem themselves. At least that's what I am theorizing at the moment.

It's just strange. I love this show but I'm not a huge fan of when they try to do anything supernatural-ish. Last season, the weakest part for me was the alien story. This is just making me question it a bit.

It didn't dawn on me that Nikki and Mr. Wrench were apparently "somewhere, not of this earth," until the guy (with the kitten) at the bowling alley asked Nikki "is that what you see, (a bowling alley!)" And he also told Nikki he talked her buddy (Mr. Wrench) into sticking around, or something like that? So apparently both Nikki and Mr. Wrench ended up being given a "second chance" when he told Nikki there was a car outside with the keys under the mat. !! I agree, Yuri didn't get a second chance. I hope they cut off his other ear and rip him a new one !!

I think that widow woman at the restaurant is in cahoots with Varga.

Season 3 concluded last night. Ended on a bit of a cliffhanger as the audience gets to decide what happened to V.M. Varga.
Many have said this season was uneven at times but last night's finale totally made up for some of the flaws.
Noah Hawley is taking on several projects including Season 2 of Legion. He has said Fargo might not have a Season 3 and if so depends on numerous factors - including that creative spark.
I look for Carrie Coon, David Thewlis, Ewan McGregor and Elizabeth Winstead to get some love for their outstanding performances.

I was disappointed with the finale. It wasn't a bad episode, I just expected so much more from it.
I did like Mr. Wrench getting revenge for Nikki though, that was a nice touch.
