7b needs more Carol****, Maggie and Aaron(yes, I love Aaron and need more of him) and less Negan please, please, please, pleaseeeeee. Obviously these percentages didn't help in 7a as the ratings were falling more and more
**** badass Carol, not farmer Carol pleaseeee

I'm not shocked by this list... I'm more shocked that a fan sat with a stop watch and counted every minute for each character.

Ordinarily, I'd have said that approximately 1/2 hour of screen time was disgusting for the sole original female cast member, especially taking into account that far weaker actors had considerably more and that several episodes were extended in length; however, given her current story, I'd even have been happy with less. A story that shouldn't exist in the first place certainly oughtn't be highlighted.
As for the rest? That much Negan is a big part of the reason the show is faltering, IMO, and it makes approximately zero sense to give essentially equal screen time to the show's most popular character vs secondary characters like Tara and Rosita. If Jesus is supposed to be even a second tier character, ummmm... That's an impressive lack of screen time. It seems apparent looking at the numbers a) that Gimple is clueless in general and b) that he cares far more about dropping the latest shiny new villains all over the screen than in giving any weight to the new good guys. And Carl? I realize his story is important, but CR's acting ability is limited; as such, giving him considerably more time to demonstrate that will never make the show better, especially when coupled with piling on AM and CS, who really should only be present in smaller doses. Finally, Father Gabriel, as the other guy at the head of Rick's table, might as well be sitting under it. The show isn't going to get acting kudos and be remotely high quality with its bigger talents' being wasted by lack of screen time +/- by god awful stories that warrant the lack. And, the worst problem of all? The extremely poor balance of distribution of those minutes, with Tara's almost exclusively in a single unnecessary standalone episode starring AM and Maggie's and Sasha's lumped largely into a couple.
Another important total would be "number of episodes in which characters had more than 5 lines".

LOL that's what happens when the story let's your mind wander to other things. I'd wager that the fan who did this was watching the show one night and thought, "How the f*** long is this guy gonna talk?" and Bingo! an article was born.

Comicbook also copy and paste this information and it was a fan from TSDF who did this... I guess the person probably wanted to prove something I guess...

It's sad that there are so many different ways to support the thesis statement "Scott Gimple is a terrible show runner". Someone could probably generate a 20 page term paper, single spaced.

Plus Abe and Glenn technically got 30- some minutes in the premiere, That Negan got 2 minutes less than the series lead was excessive IMO and shifted his character from menacing, because we never knew when or where he would show up, to simply annoying for me as he never. stopped. talking. The less is more approach which is often used in horror, (Jaws, Alien franchise, Friday13th for instance) would have been better IMO, but I also know we have many Negan fans in the fandom who were thrilled to finally see their favorite on the screen. I do think it can be good when characters get some spotlight- I didn't hate the Tara episode, only the placement since most fans were waiting to see how Maggie and Sasha were doing after their screen absence since 7.01. TPTB seem more interested in servicing what they want or the writers or network want and are missing some huge touchstones viewers want so badly. Seems low=hanging fruit to me, which could have resulted in higher ratings had the episode placement been shifted around a bit. Interesting facts v , thanks for posting!

I strongly believe in dividing the cast in
A Team - Atlanta 4 and M&M (should get bulk of screen time) B Team - Sasha, Tara, Eugene (next in line) C Team - Enid (just above redshirts)
The above are just examples of where I would put some of the cast.

I agree with you Sexual Chocolate- give the main top-tier cast more time than redshirts or tier-2 cast members. I like Tara and consider her part of TeamFamily but I would rather see bottle episodes directed more towards main cast tier-one characters. I'm glad we got Morgan's backstory twice, with 'Here's Not Here' and of course 'Clear', the very first bottle episode of the series. I don;t feel I need or desire a third Morgan bottle episode at this point and it would feel to me like time wasted. How about a just Maggie bottle episode on her own? Or a second Carylbottle episode? We know we will be getting a mostly Richonne bottle episode and I am very happy about that since it has been a long time since Clear aired when we had something similar.

I know several here were not happy about Here's not Here but other than placement I found it to be one of the best eps of season 6 (same boat/Jss takes top spot for me) I would happily take another Caryl ep, but would the GA? I wish they would do away their reliance on bottle eps. Once in a while is fine, 4b it made sense. Now? it just shows they are unable to balance the cast. since we know we have a mostly Richonne, another sanctuary and a kingdom bottle coming those that were hoping they were doing away with them will be sorely disappointed. Don't we also have mostly a Hilltop one coming up as well?
