EW "...Hearing that the battle is about to be joined is no doubt music to the ears of fans, as are these other comments Lincoln made to EW about what to expect from his character coming up. “There’s a lot more levity, if you can believe that, than you’ve ever seen before in Mr. Grimes,” says Lincoln. “There’s sort of a freedom in him, a feeling that comes from losing everything, and also the thrill of the fight. It’s the thrill of the fight again. He’s back in. All I’m saying is that the band is back together.” Lincoln also says he personally had a blast filming the second half of season 7, now that he no longer has to cower in fear of Negan on a weekly basis. “There are several episodes that I loved being involved in and it certainly feels very much more like a show that I knew and recognized in the back eight,” he says. “I loved the episodes that I was in.” More importantly, he predicts fans will be happy with what they see. “It’s The Magnificent Seven in the back half. Rather, the magnificent eight episodes. Wait till [episode] 16. I promise you, there is one beat in 16, I dropped my script and started punching the air and did a little jig.” link

For some reason Andy describing Rick has having "levity" makes he think that cocky Rick from 6b will be making a comeback . (zzz) "band is back together.” Yeah for like 2 episodes, and then it spiltsville until the final. I see Andy is doing "omg this season is amazing" thing again

I love AL but he's the king of hyperbole. His jig was for Rick giving a speech and getting ready to fight the Saviors, but I doubt he knows how much viewers have lost interest at this point.

I'm sure it has been very hard for Andrew Lincoln to be acting as beaten down, frightened, traumatised Rick, so of course he is relieved "7-B is very very very very very very very very very very... different" from 7-A.
Some levity, well-placed could balance some aspects of the season, but I'm having a hard time inserting "The Magnificent Seven" into my mind.

I just noticed this “I loved the episodes that I was in.” I'm not quite sure if he is throwing shade with this comment or not.

I just noticed this “I loved the episodes that I was in.” I'm not quite sure if he is throwing shade with this comment or not. he probably wasn't throwing shade - given that AL has only seen one episode of this show it makes sense he can't actually get excited about the overall story, just the stuff he's doing (plus whatever junk gimple is telling him to say)

EW Lincoln also says he personally had a blast filming the second half of season 7, now that he no longer has to cower in fear of Negan on a weekly basis. “There are several episodes that I loved being involved in and it certainly feels very much more like a show that I knew and recognized in the back eight,” he says. “I loved the episodes that I was in.” linkAL doesn't typically throw shade.... but that's as close as I think he'll ever come He basically just said that the show has been "unrecognizable". And this may be just me.... but I bristled a little when he said Rick is coming back "from losing everything". This bugs me in the same way they basically insisted the Lucille Victims were actually all about Rick losing his confidence/mojo. I'm just sitting over here like, ummmm... Rick still has both his children and now the love of Michonne. Maggie is coming back from losing everything. Sasha is (again). Tara is (again). Morgan did. Carol is. Daryl is. Hell, pretty much everyone else on the show has lost everyone in their immediate families. I know Rick's the 'main' character... but equating losing confidence/hubris with losing everything?.... kinda insinuates not great things about Rick...... [/rant]

[/rant] That's probably were the show is going wrong. They are doing everything to be about Rick and Rick isn't everyone's favourite character. The show has many characters not just one... It works in the comics that everything is about the Grimes but it doesn't work on the show . The TV version should be more than about the many adventures of Rick losing his mind and finding it again over and over again.

I don't mind "everything being about Rick" because this IS Rick's story. Yes, there's other people there, but we ultimately came into this world through Rick's eyes, so we're always going to be seeing things from his POV too, and that's okay with me.
As for AL's comment, I didn't necessarily view it as shade throwing. I don't think AL particularly connects with anything outside of the Grimes bubble. He's always the most excited for Rick, Michonne, and Carl understandably. With a few scattered comments about other stories thrown in. I just think he's focused on and loves what directly involves him. Not that he dislikes everything else, I don't think he does, but he knows what he likes.
