No. It's Star Trek. It's the one thing you can actually rely on to not do this shit and actually step up instead. First interracial kiss on TV. They're just checking off yet another barrier they're breaking. It's a good thing. They've had a black male captain before. Also, this forum is of a fandom. Star Trek essentially created fandom. So no dissing! I know, I'm a big fan of theirs. They also had a female captain. It just seemed strange to me that they get a younger black female lead......but don't make her the captain. Don't quite get that, tbh. I assume it's in the same spirit of originality that pushes so much of Star Trek material. It's a new POV. Especially amongst a current culture of so many TV shows owning audience in a way they never have before. As well as the presence of the continuing movie Universe franchise. It creates a separation whilst also tapping into the excitement and success of Uhura's role. I think it may be pretty smart. Imagine Walking Dead with a Carol-leading POV. It's something fresh.

We've created a full topic for all the Sasha spoilers around her death, with every site's comments here. Please take the discussion of spoilers there so this topic can remain just for the wonderful casting rather than being confusing to those who only wish to discuss the death spoilers and rumors, thanks everyone!
