In 'Swear' we met Oceanside residents ruled by a council of women it seems. Very different from Woodbury, Terminus, the prison, ASZ, The Saviors or The Kingdom.
All the men and boys over 10 were killed by the Saviors, so this group operates by either killing those who find them or more rarely, extending offers to join them as they did with Tara.
In Swear we also saw how Natalia was able to dominate the discussions with Tara and still has authority over Cyndi, although I think that might change in the future if she survives and ends up running Oceanside. So the council approach is not without flaws as we saw last night.
I admit I enjoyed seeing a community run by women for a pleasant change and do think those would spring up in the ZA, albeit as hide and run groups since they would likely be targeted by male and mixed communities for various reasons.
What were your thoughts around Oceanside and how well or poorly it operates?

Quick question before I delve into your question: Is there any way Cyndie's mom is with Negan and not dead? Something about how Natalia told the story about Cyndie's mom and brother made me go hmm.

Sure, great catch there! I don't see why not, and anything is possible on this show frankly. Perhaps we will "meet' her next week either in the harem or elsewhere at the Sanctuary? Did we get her name last night? I do not remember, but I was running all over the Internet looking for promos, reviewes etc.

Ripley I didn't catch her name. I'll watch the episode again to see if I get the same feel about Natalia's comment the 2nd time around.

Save for little Miss Murder 2016, it honestly didn't feel like any of the women Tara directly had scenes with actually wanted to kill her - even the ones sent out to do the deed. If they did, she would have already been long dead. And their leader seemed something of the same, she will have you killed dead, absolutely. But if Tara HAD been alone and willing to come into the community I think the offer would have been genuine. The tune changed when Tara revealed all the deets.
Ultimately, I liked this new community.
I am all for the ladies handling their own.
And they are handing it.
You have to admit.
Tara is right in the sense that eventually they will need others, but for right now, they have their own covered. And you have to admire that. Personally, it doesn't seem like just anyone can uproot their group from a presumably safe place and head out into the night to hopefully find something else just to get out from Negan's thumb.
That ish takes large lady-balls.

I need to see more of the council to get a better read on it, but correct me if I'm wrong didn't Cyndie say something about being either the only, or one of the few to have actually killed a human being?
One thing the council must do is develop better fighters because they can't shoot worth shit. Getting everyone, from the youngest to the oldest, proficient with guns should be top on their priority list.

Good point-if Cyndie is their best shot, they are in trouble. I kept worrying she'd accidentally plug Tara on Swear.
Eugene is a better shot now, but of course it takes practice and good training to get someone up to speed fast. Too bad Shane couldn't teach them a few tricks as he did Andrea and the others.

I like them so far, but I don't hold out a lot of hope because this is Gimple and he's awful at writing female relationships.

What I am wondering is if they are under Negan's thumb. They would have to be, but I didn't get that vibe. I guess because they didn't seem worried about having half for Negan's next visit.
Was Cyndie a bad shot? Maybe I missed something because I thought she was taking out those walkers on the bridge pretty well.
My impression of the who has killed discussion is that Cyndie had and the girl hadn't, but I didn't get any more of an idea than that.
