Jenna Coleman and the BBC have admitted The Doctor's companion Clara Oswald's story ends at the end of series 9 this year, before the Christmas Special brings back River Song for that episode. For series 10, what sort of person would you like to see become the next companion or companions?
After so many (younger) women (most of whom I liked btw) -Rose, Martha, Donna Noble, Amy Pond, River Song, Clara, I'd love to see a young man or older man for a change. Madame Vastra would be fun, Strax too but there always needs to be a human companion or companions to help the audience keep themselves in the story.

Strax would be fun! I of course am partial to River Song. But it would be a nice change if they had a male companion for a bit. (I was extremely disappointed Danny Pink was killed off! I liked Clara best when she was with him.)

Agreed Bravekat ! I felt Danny brought depth to Clara beyond "let's go have some fun!". I'd love to see a male companion definitely. (whispers make River Song a semi- permanent companion again please). Clara has had one of the longest runs of companions in the reboot, if not the longest.

And I wouldn't mind a female companion again if they would not make her fall in love with the Doctor! I get tired of the idea that a male and female can't be friends. I have several dear male friends who I have never even considered as a romantic partner. They felt more like brothers. Rose, Martha, Amy, Clara - they all fell in love with their doctors. Donna was the only one who seemed to have a friends only relationship. Maybe that's why I liked her so much!
