While AMC broadcasts he show and has some interest in it, my understanding is that it is a British show licensed through AMC. I watched season one and was struck by the themes and stories from the incredible cast including Gemma Chan and William Hurt. SOme themes are shared with Westworld, but without the graphic level of violence or constant violence HBO includes as part of the story. dark sister have you seen Humans yet? Here is some season 2 info "The upcoming second season of AMC’s Humans will go “darker” than before, star Gemma Chan (she plays conscious synth Mia, a.k.a. Anita) tells EW. “On the whole, we delve deeper into the themes you saw in season 1,” she says. “What I found really interesting in season 2 was how it explored morality and how we learn right from wrong… Even though we covered quite a lot of ground in season 1, it’s still such a rich subject area. What makes us human is infinite, really.” And as seen in these exclusive images, Mia and Niska (Emily Berrington) take the spotlight in two of the interwoven stories. After leaving the Hawkins family behind in the season 1 finale, Mia — along with Leo (Colin Morgan) and Max (Ivanno Jeremiah) — has settled down in a quiet seaside town, hiding under her “Anita” persona. “For the first time in her life, she’s got a chance to find out a bit more about who she is,” Chan says. “She’s determined to try and live her own life.” There, she gets the opportunity to do so thanks to Ed (new cast member Sam Palladio, taking a break from Nashville), a struggling cafe owner who employs her and with whom she forms a bond." Niska, however, isn’t as careful as Mia with her new life — especially after she ran off with the hard drive containing the code that could turn synths conscious. “Niska’s view of humanity is still developing, and there’s always going to be that element of danger with Niska, but she goes on a very interesting journey in season 2,” Chan teases. “I think she feels remorse for some of her actions in season 1.” That journey, she adds, includes a human who Chan says “affects her quite deeply.” linkCarrie Ann Moss (Matrix trilogy) has joined the cast for season 2

I watched the first season of this show and enjoyed it immensely, but I'll tell ya, I have forgotten a lot of it. That's what happens when you have to wait so very long for a second season to arrive.

I agree greaterpursuit and hope a marathon of season 1 is aired before season 2 returns in 2017. This was a fascinating show and I was wondering when it would return! A marathon would be great ~ not only as a refresher for those of us who enjoyed it the first season, but to attract new viewers who missed it the first time around!

Since AMC has some money invested and licenses it, I feel confident we'll get a marathon. Just wish we knew when in 2017 the show returns, lol

I'm watching the marathon while puttering around the house doing chores.
HUMANS does raise some the same issues as Westworld with their "Synths" innstead of "hosts"- what happens when an "owner" decides to try sex with his Synth property (Anita/Mia) for instance. Niska is a blonde Synth working in a brothel with some qualities anyone who has seen Maeve would recognize.
Humans came earlier, and this AMC joint production is actually a remake of an original Swedish stow.
Some of the interesting issues Humans raises that we haven' seen on Westworld: When a disabled wife separates from her husband because all of her needs (including sexual) are met by her assigned Aide Synth. Another: When a scientist's quality of life goes down when he is constantly nagged and forced to live healthily by his aide Synth who monitors what he eats, forces him to take meds. Note- he has an older broken down Synth on hand too which he keept because the Synth was part of his household as an early gen version and knew his wife and family..
An interesting Synth hides in plain site, as a police inspector, investigating Synth-related crimes. Her human partner, who has no idea she isn't human, is the man whose wife kicked him out- he grows more bitter and this eventually boils over in his attitude towards Synths.
Granted series or season 1 of Humans is only 6 episodes, so much of the time is spent by a group of Synths trying to "awaken" Anita (household Synth of a local family) to her former Mia self and demonstrating how society works with Synths hidden or open, for good or bad. The family who has Mia turns into advocates for Synths simply through their exposure to Anita/Mia who at times seems to glitch and reveal her awareness as Mia.
I do find it fascinating that HUMANS looks also at the effects upon the humans of the synths in their lives, about which we just got a glimpse in William;s attraction and feelings for Delores over many years.

I forgot to add that the main synths consider themselves a family unit so fight and work to reunite as a group throughout Season 1, getting help from Mia's human family.
Imagine the awkward, ugly feelings a human female lawyer might feel watching her family bonding with a household Synth who can cook, and do all the tasks better than she can, while she spends too many hours working. Whose children ask for the Synth, not their mother, to read them a bedtime story. When what was supposed to make lief easier feels like a replacement or thread as a rival.
Or how desperate you must be to have to hide all your daily movements, even visitors so your Synth won't tell the police every thing you have eaten, every visitor, every action you took over the past week or so.
Just some issues addressed.

I'm enjoying the marathon as much as I did on the first viewing and just got a laugh out of a protest march, the "We Are People" movement.

"Season two will dive deeper into Synth technology and the effects on society as it seeps into even more aspects of our life. The story unfolds across multiple locations as Niska is determined to empower her kind, Mia navigates the human world of romance, and the anti-Synth political movement, We Are People, festers. Before you catch the premiere, here’s everything you’ll need to know going into season two of Humans, including bios of the characters that’ll be central to the story. ..." link

darkandstormy, are you still watching? Episode 4 was heartbreaking for Mia and that hit me hard in the gut along with the Miska and Brigitte scenes plus Leo, Max and Hesta.

Renewed for season 3 as a collaboration between Channel 4 and AMC (licenses only) "“Humans” has been renewed for Season 3 at AMC and Channel 4, Variety has learned. The series will return with eight new episodes in 2018. Production will begin in this fall with key cast members set to return. Set in a parallel present, the series explores what happens when the line between human and machine becomes blurred as robotic servants called Synths become more and more a part of human life. Gemma Chan, Katherine Parkinson, and Lucy Carless are among the stars of the series. “‘Humans’ provides a thrilling look at the evolution of technology and its effect on society,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and Sundance TV. “The critical response to season two celebrates the creative vision, dynamic story-telling and compelling portrayals shared by the writers, producers and actors. We are pleased to continue our collaboration with Channel 4 and Kudos and look forward to season three.” link
