Not sure if you want this here or in the Carol thread dark sister Ripleywww.ew.com/article/2016/10/05/walking-dead-melissa-mcbride-carol-kingdom-season-7The good news for Carol when The Walking Dead picks up for season 7 on Oct. 23? She’s alive! The bad news? It looks like she’ll be separated from the group for at least a little while as she and Morgan will be venturing to a brand new community known as the Kingdom. Run by a dude with a scepter and pet tiger who calls himself King Ezekiel, the Kingdom will play a big part in Alexandria’s impending conflict with Negan. What will Carol make of the place and the seemingly wacky guy who presides over it? We spoke to Melissa McBride to get some teases on what to expect.

You gotta give this woman credit - she's answering the same questions over and over again about a story that makes zero sense, and yet she always manages to sound gracious and thoughtful each time she speaks up. At the end of the day, though, it really just makes me wish for her to have a different show to work on.

Why do I get the feeling MMB is over her story line this year? At least what it is in 7A?

Why do I get the feeling MMB is over her story line this year? At least what it is in 7A? Honestly she doesn't have a lot of story this season so there's probably just not a lot she can say. She knows she's just filling the promo gap and that very little will be happening with her character through about 3/4s of the season. I'd be over it too if I were her It will be really interesting to see carols involvement in the final three episodes - they really need to give us something to be excited about to hold us over next hiatus. I'm hoping for something good for her towards the end

It was nice to see something that doesn't mention Negan for a change. As much as mel loves Carol, I have to wonder of the arc they have had her on for the last couple seasons hurts her as much as it hurts me.

Then I would say episode 14 could be a episode that mainly focus the Cemetery House / The Kindgom. I'm still holding onto the prediction that Dwight will come into contact with Carol, and Carol will finally be connected to the main story and find about Negan and the crap he has done.

Could be - I certainly hope so. At this rate though I wouldn't be completely surprised if carol is shown to connect in with Dwight but doesn't reconnect with TF until the last 30 seconds of ep 16.

I think the show needs to show the Kindgom. Right now it does look like the show really isn't that invested in this place or the characters. To me it looks like they just wanted Shiva and they needed to have The Kindgom/ Ezekiel to take her / him in. Also it would be a huge WTF if Carol doesn't have a presence in the next 3 episodes. Right now Carol has had no development with her arc and character. and is still in the dark about everything. I reckon and I hope that the Dwight spec does come to fruition soon. Otherwise Carol could have just disappeared for the whole season and returned in the final.

I hope it does too for the reasons you've listed and there's plenty of reason to hope that things turn out in a way similar to what you describe. But the show is really hammering the "new beginning/expanding worlds" thing and clearly wants the story to pivot - I'm just preparing for this simply not being a year in which Carol receives a lot of focus, so I can be surprised if she does get some progress this season. I'm sure we'll see her again this season of course....but I could see them using her return to the group as something of a teaser for the next season. I can't wait to be wrong.

At this point it wouldn't surprise me at all if Carol doesn't reunite with the group until season 8. And I don't mind that she's doesn't seem to be getting much focus this season. What I do mind is that the focus she is getting looks to be stagnant.

If it works out that Carol doesn’t reunite with Rick and Co until the final. Then why would you watch season 7 if you are a Carol fan.
Looking at Tracking / Spoilers the character has been shipped of to the Cemetery House. She has no story. Her character isn't getting any development. The majority of her small scenes will be with her stalker Dickstick. Richard a newbie who wants to kill her. and Yoda 2.0 who will be the new Morgan, but without the bodyslam.
She also won't have much screentime. Episode 3 will be the introduction of the kindgom/ Ezekiel and more BS storytelling between Carol and Dickstick. A couple of minutes in the MSF. Rumor of a scene in the MSP. Then another few minutes in episode 10. Her whole apperance in season 7 could amount to about 30 minutes.

It's really not surprising to me that Carol has been having an existential crisis of sorts given how fast she has had to adapt to the new world and being under so much pressure while doing it. The lack of screen time is so discouraging because I am afraid most of the process of her working through everything will be off screen and the changes will be presented in an abrupt fashion (like S3-4).
I'm ok with feeling the emotions and riding along with the characters on their ups and downs, but SG should remember that the characters are stuck in that world and have no choice but to trudge along; we, OTOH, have to voluntarily submit to the misery and it's really becoming a chore.

Welcome, scarletbegonias. I don't know how much more misery porn I can stomach. It's already effecting (or is it affecting) my enjoyment of fanfic. Too many authors have taken Gimple's lead and are producing more and more fanfic. It's so bad I was up until 2AM reading baby fics.

So TPTB sideline their best actress and I get to know all there is to know about characters I don't care about. Time for a boycott of episodes that highlight Negan. I hate season seven already. I'm usually halfway through a season before I get this discouraged. Negan is infecting the entire show. A pox on Gimple's house.

I haven't read any fanfic for a while but it might work out in my favor if the new season turns out like I am afraid it will.

As great as JDM is, can't say I'm interested in the car salesman flashback. Would be more powerful if they never explained Negan's backstory. I'm just hoping it's quick like Abe's flashback and not the endless Mopey Governor stuff.

Wasn't it AL who said it's now the Negan's show.

I just hope it's worthwhile in the end. I am not writing off her story just because of her proximity to the creepy house, but I'm hoping for at least a hint of progress.
