THR's Tim Goodman gives his blunt review of Conviction, which has TWD alum Emily Kinney in a minor role. "People in the broadcast television business have heard – and greenlit – so many patently stupid ideas through the years it's as if they are inured to even the blandest, most transparently terrible copy of previously terrible ideas. It's a special kind of industry ouroboros of insipidness. Which brings us to ABC's Conviction, a law procedural so paint-by-numbers it's like everybody gave up halfway through and added terrible colors out of boredom. And the really sad exclamation point here is that it stars the wonderful Hayley Atwell who was in a good ABC show, Agent Carter, that never found traction (despite the Marvel imprimatur). So apparently everyone thought it would be a good idea to give her some other star vehicle but neglected to make it worth her talent, which is wasted and unrecognizable here as she spouts terrible dialog..." link

From what I hear she is totally wasted in this role.

Ouch..That isn't a favourable review. The show will probably be cancelled after one season.

Now that's defently not a favourable review.... It looked to have that 'yet another lawyer show' feel from the promo's anyway though.

I have an idea! Let's repackage old shows, not hire the best writers and just retrieve this all from our collective colons. Brilliant.
I'm so apathetic about new shows, they're hardly good or worth it anymore. Those that do gain traction fly off the rails and either is made terrible by being something it's not, or just shrug their shoulders and not try anymore.

I want this to fail out of spite because I loved Agent Carter so much. I can't even hide my bias.

The commercial for this show just came on and EK still can't act. Seriously.

I usually love these kinds of shows but this one sucks. Ek is still a terrible actress.

I watched the first episode - nope! nope! nope! Acknowledging that I watched for less than noble reasons... I did, too, and it was awful.

Honestly, from what I've seen it relied on cringey, poorly written dialogue and overwritten cases/plots and characters. They wanted to cash in on HA's public appeal by putting her in a done to death type show... Best luck to HA's future career.

"ABC is not moving forward with additional episodes of Hayley Atwell drama Conviction, though the network is retaining the cast options. The Disney-owned network will produce the initial 13 episodes of the struggling freshman drama, with the series not receiving any additional orders. It's also unclear if Conviction, from executive producer Liz Friedman, will remain in its current Mondays at 10 p.m. slot beyond Nov. 14. ABC has retained options on the cast — including Atwell — for a potential second season consideration, though the show's lackluster ratings and reviews make that seem highly unlikely. Conviction, starring Agent Carter grad Atwell as the daughter of a former president who becomes head of an agency examining the wrongly accused, opened Oct. 3 to a disappointing 0.9 rating among adults 18-49. It ranked as the lowest-rated series premiere this fall and was down 17 percent from last season's time slot occupant, the since-canceled Castle. Monday's fifth episode collected 3.6 million total viewers and a 0.7 rating in the demo. Its haul among viewers 18-34 was the lowest on broadcast Monday, bested by both The CW's Supergirl and Jane the Virgin. Poor reviews most certainly did not help it cut through the clutter, with The Hollywood Reporter's chief TV critic Tim Goodman calling the series "a law procedural so paint-by-numbers it's like everybody gave up halfway through and added terrible colors out of boredom."" www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/conviction-canceled-at-abc-945573
