"Death Stranding is due for release in 2018, Hideo Kojima told a huge crowd of fans during an on-stage Q&A session at Tokyo Game Show 2016 on Sunday.. It will be out before the Olympics,” said Kojima, referring to the Tokyo 2020 Games. He then went on, “To go a little further, there is a movie called Akira, and it will be out before the year in which Akira is set. He also said that it will include a female protagonist, but that casting is still underway. So far the only publicly announced talent in the game is The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus. Kojima echoed this on twitter. “This game will show a different side of Norman Reedus than fans of The Walking Dead might expect,” said Kojima. The anime movie Akira was set in 2019, so “before” Akira would peg Death Stranding’s release date at sometime during 2018. I don't think I've been more hyped for a game than this. NR as protagonist, MM as antagonist, Del Toro on possible design, Kojima on..everything.
It's looking to be a complete mental exercise judging from the trailers and I'm thrilled after PT caved (fuck Konami) for NR, etc that they found this project to work on. I've never played a Silent Hills and starting fresh gives more story avenues.
Tentacles on a WW1 tank, skull soldiers..heavy pollutution symbolism, ST's upside-down world feel..can't wait.
