I watched 13th on Netflix last night. It's about the American prison system and how it's unfairly set up to effect black people the most. Really great doc that went in depth on a few things I wasn't familiar with. I saw this today and it pissed me off like it was supposed to. This country sucks more times than not.

The crack vs cocaine sentencing is so overtly racist. I'm not even surprised that it was that way.

I'm not even surprised that it was that way. And all of the ALEC backed bills like Stand Your Ground and how Walmart and others are literally making millions off it. And there sat the ALEC representative denying it all and blaming it on the liberal agenda. I swear I almost threw something at my screen.

The ALEC thing was fascinating because I had no idea about any of that. (Or if I knew at one point, I forgot) I'd wager not many are aware of that either. At least not enough.

Watched Audrie & Daisy on Netflix. It focused on two teens who were assaulted by friends and the aftermath. I found it incredibly sad and eye opening. The sheriff who was involved in one of the case was a complete and utter pig, and everytime to talked. I wanted to slap him.

I think dark sister also recommended it, but I know this doc will make me hate people more than I already do.

It just some of the people involved in it are complete douche bags.

Starlight I was talking about that film on twitter and someone tweeted me about how pissed they were because they met him at some social outing, but didn't see this doc until afterwards and would've liked to have said a few things to him. Sexual Chocolate it really is very eye opening. If you saw The Hunting Ground, last year. It's like the high school version of that. I've been making my way through OJ: Made in America. It's interesting, but long. Listening to a few of the jury members give interviews is kind of infuriating.

Watched Casting JonBenet on Netflix. The way they shot the documentary was different using casting of actors and then having them act out scenes. And the whole documentary was just those actors giving their own opinion / theories on who killed the little girl. And i thats why I didn’t like it it. The documentary was just the director sitting there asking these actors their opinion / theories. I really didn't see the point in this documentary being made it didn’t ask any new questions or give any insight into the subject of the documentary.

I'd watch one with law enforcement or the FBI, actual professionals involved in the case. But the opinions of a bunch of randoms? Nah.

I watched two documentaries this week.
I Am Heath Ledger - which ended up depressing me. I felt strange seeing his private footage.
Let It Fall: Los Angeles 1982-1992. Very informative and also depressing. I feel like they should show this documentary in schools when they talk about the LA riots and what lead up to them.
I also got I Am Not Your Negro from Netflix, which I plan on watching soon.

Watched The Keepers on Netflix about the cover up of the murder of a nun by the Catholic Church who was going to expose a priest who had been sexually abusing girls at the school where she taught. Really riveting. I couldn't binge it... the stories of victims were too intense.

Really riveting. I couldn't binge it... the stories of victims were too intense. The Keepers gutted me. It was around episode 4 or 5 where I had to control myself from burning something down in anger. Those poor children, from both schools and no one can convince me {Spoiler} that the boy was the priest's only victim at the first school , by the way - plus the murder of the nun. Pure evil.

I finished HBO's The Jinx. I put this off for a while. I liked Andrew Jarecki's other documentary Capturing The Freidmans but I felt like he let his bias of case get in the way a bit, especially towards the end. I was afraid I would feel the same way about this. You could tell he almost went that route too. In the last episode he says he believes something Robert Durst tells him and someone off camera goes "are you fucking kidding me?" but overall this was a really good series and quick watch. Fascinating stuff.
