I can see the producers doing the ole switcharoo, Heath and Tara stumble upon the clearing and Negan Lucilles Heath.

"...As EW reports, Fox hasn’t cast the pilot yet, but will be looking for an African-American lead to star as that military hero at the center of things, essentially replacing Sutherland’s Jack Bauer as the protagonist. And while I was hoping for another J.B. action hero, it looks like the new “Bauer” will actually be named Eric Carter. Further changing things up for the latest 24 chapter, the plot won’t focus solely on Carter but will pair him up with a female co-lead, as Fox Television Chairman and CEO Dana Walden revealed:... New York Times details about Hawkins and the series: "...Early “24: Legacy” footage, viewed exclusively by The New York Times last week, revealed a lavish action series that is both the same (the ticking clock, the split screens, the against-all-odds heroism) and new: Instead of following the secret agent Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland, the new show focuses on a young, tormented Army Ranger who is being hunted by terrorists. The new protagonist’s name is Eric Carter. Corey Hawkins, a Juilliard-trained actor best known for his portrayal of Dr. Dre in “Straight Outta Compton,” plays the part. “The fact that he is an African-American hero is not irrelevant,” said the producer Brian Grazer, who has helped shepherd the “24” franchise from its start. “As a series, ‘24’ was prescient about what was going on in the culture. We want to do that again.” Mr. Gordon added: “Against the backdrop of Ferguson and Black Lives Matter, here is a character who has fought for a country that has in some ways abandoned him. He’s squaring a question for himself: Is this place even worth defending?” link

I can see the producers doing the ole switcharoo, Heath and Tara stumble upon the clearing and Negan Lucilles Heath. Wow. That's one theory I genuinely have not yet heard! Thanks for the surprising smile you brought to my face. Honestly, I would crack up if this is what happened. There's just something so "Gimple" about this. Forget Aaron, this would be the ultimate cop-out.

More info about 24: Legacy from Comicbook.com. I had thought I would skip this series but now I think I may watch, based on the description, whether glowing or not. "...Starring Corey Hawkins (The Walking Dead, Straight Outta Compton) as veteran Eric Carter, the series uses the traditional "real-time" from the original 24 series. Carter was a military hero overseas, but he was forced into witness protection after he assisted the former head of CTU, Rebecca Ingram (Miranda Otto), in taking down a terrorist. Now, the two must work together to keep the terror cell from harming anyone on American soil - but they each have some pretty unique personal situations that hinder their pursuits. Anything aside from that short synopsis could probably be considered a spoiler, and this show is best-viewed with no plot details in your head. Seriously, there's at least four major plot twists in the pilot episode - it's awesome... ...Legacy sets up viewers for a show that dives into the world of PTSD, inner-city crime, and a world that makes decisions based on fear. The episode continually challenges the way we look at these issues, and really gets you thinking about how you react to the people around you on a day-to-day basis. This is a master class in bringing the issues of our world into an action-driven narrative..." link

I tried to watch 24 once... didn't make it through the first ep. All I could think as I saw more info on the show was "that dude wins for shittiest day EVER" This one though, I will have to check out, just to see Corey.

Ew's review of 24:Legacy- Grade D I was surprised they rated it a dud, but my tastes often do not mesh with theirs. I'll still watch the pilot I think and see what I think. "When Fox announced it was rebooting its landmark real-time thriller 24 with an African-American star, the news was hailed as a victory for diversity. This remains true, regardless of what you think of the show itself. Me, I think it’s laughably ludicrous. Corey Hawkins of Straight Outta Compton is rock-solid Eric Carter, a hard-boiled Army Ranger whose squad assassinated a terrorist sheikh. Now they’re being hunted as part of a vengeance scheme, which, in true 24 style, is linked to a larger conspiracy and a presidential campaign (Jimmy Smits plays the candidate) that unfolds over the course of one long day. Unfortunately, in classic bad-form 24 fashion, egregious stereotypes and caricatures abound, from stock Islamic villains to crazed homeless vets to Carter’s brother, an inner-city drug lord. At one point Carter has to steal $2 million from a police station, and his plan hinges on getting arrested by a racist white cop. Within a second, one rolls up. Are the writers aspiring to topicality? If so, their work comes off as pandering and cynical, while Carter comes off “why did you do that?!” stupid and insane..." link

I really wanted this to do good for him. I will admit to not being a fan of 24 and haven't watched more than the first couple eps of the first season. BUT I am planning to watch it this time because I do like Corey

Never watched the original 24 so was totally unprepared for the format.
I watched 24 Legacy last night after SB (had to hold my eyelids open with toothpicks) and watched tonight.
"At one point Carter has to steal $2 million from a police station, and his plan hinges on getting arrested by a racist white cop. Within a second, one rolls up."
With regard to the EW comment above, Carter saw the patrol car 'patrolling' and then came up with the plan to get arrested 'on the fly'.
Irritates me when reviewers try to skew things to make a point or don't pay attention. "Pay attention to the details reviewers! Correctly interpreted details make you an authentic writer."
Everything happens fast it seems in this format and there are a lot of things going on simultaneously.
I actually enjoyed both episodes so far and plan to continue.
Heartening to have read a few other reviewers who say it's worth the wait as the season progresses.
Corey Hawkins is doing a fine job as the lead character so far IMO.

"...The first overtime game in Super Bowl history made for a late start for Fox’s “24: Legacy,” which narrowly edged out ABC’s 2003 airing of “Alias” as the lowest-rated entertainment program to follow the NFL’s big game. “24: Legacy” opened to 17.6 million viewers and 6.1 rating in adults 18-49, a modest showing given the 111.3 million who turned out to see the New England Patriots stage a near-miraculous comeback in the second half to prevail over the Atlanta Falcons. Despite the Super Bowl’s coattails, “24: Legacy” didn’t begin until the ungodly hour of 11 p.m. on the East Coast. Only “Alias” in 2003 and CBS’ “Elementary” in 2013 started their post-Super Bowl episodes later, at 11:15 ET, and both suffered mightily, with “Alias” being the nadir at 17.4 million viewers..." link

I was a huge fan of the original series. I've also seen the miniseries they did a few years back, so of course I'm watching this one. I like it so far. They've stay true to the original.
Although, I really wish that Hollywood would change the face of terrorism. TV and movies are a big influence when it comes to shaping the way people think and view the World. With this influence comes responsibility. And Hollywood is failing miserably on that front.

Fastest hour on TV. Unreal - seemed like the episode just began and boom it was over. Not gonna sugar coat - writing was a bit lame in this episode. Corey Hawkins is a good actor and does well with what he is given. The time slot is promoting "Skull Island". CH's role looks interesting.
