(Bestrafen predicted this as soon as the spin-off was announced ) A million viewers departed Fear the Walking Dead between its first two episodes of Season 2. Why are so many fans tuning out of the companion series? "..the lack of action in the companion series, compared to what we’ve been dealing with for the past few seasons of The Walking Dead. I suppose Fear may seem extra slow coming off the heels of a Walking Dead season that featured the Wolves, a mega-herd of walkers, and Negan’s introduction. Does that mean that Fear the Walking Dead is in danger of being cancelled? At this point, no. Despite the massive drop in viewership compared the series premiere, FTWD is one of the hottest shows on television. The latest episode, even after the loss of over a million viewers from the week prior, was still the #1 show of the night, topping the NBA playoffs and The Big Bang Theory..." link

The two main characters are not interesting IMO. I'm OK with a slow family drama situation like last week. I just wish the main characters were more compelling. I was instantly drawn to the main characters in TWD. That said, I will continue to watch FTWD.

S6 of GOT starts tonight too, same time slot! It will be interesting to see if and how that factors into things as well?
I have been watching and plan to continue as I think things will start picking up very soon in terms of the "action" but personally, I also haven't really found a connection with any one particular character or have any strong feeling about any of them yet (like you Rosie, I fell immediately for each character as they came on TWD!) I want to, but I just haven't? I want to give the show more time to pick up and draw me in like our beloved, but personally I don't think I could ever reach that kind of love and dedication for anything else even if it does include the "Walking Dead" as part of it's title! But if I don't start getting way more interested in what's happening and the people involved then I'm going to be switching to watching GOT at 9:00 on Sundays and catching FTWD on DVR later?!

I'm struggling myself to feel connections with more characters in the show. I usually watch but tonight I'm catching GOT at 9 then FTWD later.

The only characters I like are Victor Strand and Daniel Salazar. Nick is problematic, but intriguing. Madison and Travis annoy me, but Madison finally showed believable emotion about taking the kids last week, so that's a plus. The jury is still out on Travis.
I'm leaning towards the combinations of Salazar taking Chris under his wing and turning him into his badass protégé. I also like Strand and Nick combining their talents manipulating others.
If the Flight 462 tie-in turns out to be as good as I'm expecting, it should propel this show further along. I'm just sorry it has to go up against GoT. That could be disastrous...

I don't watch and after TWD finale, I have no desire to. My dissatisfaction with the writing and the characters in TWD has bled over to Fear. I thought I was the only one who thought this way until I saw a thread on reddit discussing the very same thing. Some who watched and were underwhelmed by season 1, didn't want to "waste anymore time" on a show produced by the same team as TWD. Others, like me, who were thinking about giving Fear a try said 'hell nah' after the botched finale.

FTWD dialogue is not good. Tonight's show was really badly written. I liked the concept of tonight's episode, and I enjoyed a lot of the action/how it played out, but some of the dialogue really sounded like it was written by elementary school kids.
I thought the first 2 episodes were very draggy. I watched GOT tonight and recorded FTWD. I am sure many others did the same

So who is going to give this season's 2nd half a chance? I'll give it a couple more episodes and see what I think.

I'll hang in there for awhile. The writers have to do more with Maddie IMO.

I've actually enjoyed it. It gives a different spin to how people became aware of the ZA. It started out slower than I would've liked, but it picked up steam. My least favorite characters are the two leads: Travis and Maddie ~ a couple who have zero chemistry and even less believability in their responses to the ZA. I don't know if it's their acting, or the writing or a combination.
Because of other intriguing characters, I'm going to continue watching. I've enjoyed seeing how people reacted to the ZA in other parts of the world.

I was instantly drawn to the main characters in TWD. That said, I will continue to watch FTWD. I feel the exact same way. I instantly fell in love with the TWD characters. I was drawn into their universe; their life. As for FTWD, I really loved the first season and I was looking forward to this season, but as soon as it started, I lost interest. I really haven't enjoy the story arc this season. I just don't feel the imminent danger around the characters like I did during the first season. As for the characters, I looooved Nic last season, now, not that much. I really only really love Travis at this point. I'll continue to watch this season because I want to know who will die (Hopefully Chris), but unless something really interesting happens to draw me back in, I don't intend to watch next season.

I had abandoned the show after last season, but a lot of people told me that this season was good, so if AMC does a marathon this weekend (It's the finale Sunday, right?), I might record it and they catch up this fall. It might even be offered On Demand by my cable provider, so I'll check later.

When the Walking Dead franchises focus more on human drama and interactions with the walker threat lurking in the background the episodes are more interesting. There is a series of dynamics playing out between various characters in FTWD and no main "big bad" villain like TWD. I'm enjoying the show despite not being fond of the actual locations.

One of my main problem with FTWD is that even after two seasons, I still had not warmed up to any of the characters. Not as much as I did immediately for some of the characters on TWD.

I'm definitely not as invested in the FTWD characters as I am with TWD but I enjoy Madison much more than in previous seasons. We're learning more about her somewhat murky past. And there is nice chemistry between Strand and Madison. It is really that the story, overall, is more interesting than in the past.

But in the second season, I couldn't stand Nick anymore. Travis was the only likeable one for me. I didn't like the whole Mexico thing. I didn't like that they were all separated (I also hate it on TWD when TPTB separates characters for long periods of time). I don't know. I might give the show one more chance.
