a comment on EW And this is my main problem with Negan. EW comments are really coming through for me these days. There are some gems in the comment section of the ratings article posted earlier today, and you can tell its not mostly "haters" or "stans", but a lot of people who just really seem to want the show to get back on track. I am sincerely surprised at how Negan is being received, but also relieved to know it isnt just us who dont feel its working.

Too much negan. the dude is a dick and quite frankly i don't see why one of his men hasn't snuffed him yet. He has a fricken bat. Shoot him in the face already. You may be dead but at least you wouldn't need to listen to him monologue anymore

I know Negan is alive in the comics.. but I could see him actually dying on the show now. The character just isn't working and the show trying to sell Rick keeping him alive is going to be a complete disaster.
If the show wanted to keep Negan long term they shouldn't have had him kill Glenn. They could have had Negan kill Abe and if they wanted 2 characters. They should have picked a secondary character like Aaron or Rosita etc..

I know he isn't going over well with a lot of fans, but I'm actually still quite happy with the television version of Negan. He's made me laugh so many times. I just love him. I find him unpredictable and I love that. He definitely has the smile, humor, sadism, friendliness (at least, very social), happiness and psychopathy, down. There's no doubt Negan enjoys what he's doing and there's no doubt JDM is enjoying playing the part.

if they would have put the real negan from the comics on the show then we would have these nimrods not only complaining about the blood and violence but they would also be complaining about negan as well.....wish they had put the real negan on instead of the butterdown pg version....just my thoughts

I tend to personally really enjoy villains and I've always thought TWD did a good job with them, but tv negan has just seemed goofy to me. how would you say the "real negan" is different/better than what we're getting? Maybe I'll be into that version : )

That's not Kirkman's or Gimple's fault. They only allow so much of that on TV and AMC allows even less. Have you seen the blu-ray version of the season finale? What did you think? They said they're doing multiple takes through the season, so when it comes out, there will be a lot of that. I admit, I prefer it that way.

I think Negan is a complete bore and/or boor. Take your pick or choose both. It's up to you. I don't think allowing Negan to drop four letter words every two seconds will make the difference. Why do I think that? Hannibal Lecter was absolutely terrifying when he said, "Clarice". (A name and not an obscenity). That actor oozed menace. Negan oozes a foul smell but frankly he is just JDM playing Negan. He talks too much. I was tired of him on the finale last season. I just wanted one of his own men to shoot him, walk to the lineup and say, "New sheriff in town. I am letting you go home and start scavenging. Dead men do no work for me so I'm letting you live, but if you kill any of my saviors then I will go to your town and kill ten of yours. We'll be at Alexandria in two days." Spoken matter of factly.
