For some reason, I too thought last night's ep was the finale. Glad there is one more - can't wait to see how "Sunday" goes. Pumped about Talking Preacher and glad that will be a regular feature of next season's Preacher. 1. So Em is watching the original "Psycho" and takes Norman Bates and Marion's words to heart. She gets rid of the "cause" of her trap. Miles - you POS! 2. The 'Saint' is condemned to Hell where he has to re-live his sins forever - on repeat. (Apparently in the comic, he is buried at Boot Hill and is woken when God needs him to kill. 3. Jesse really does care about Tulip. Loved the look on Tulip's face when she listens to Jesse's VM and then we realize she's about to "take care" of Carlos. I'm still not sure what exactly he did to Tulip and Jesse? Anyone remember? LOL at pancakes and Merlot. 4. Cassidy remembers where he buried the clones of Fiore and Deblanc (remember when he dismembered them) and retrieves their "angel" hands. 5. The van stop where the angels depart for hell is the same place Jesse Pinkman waited to be picked up in BB. Apparently the stop is in front of a dam - who knew? 6. I have never read the comic nor do I follow any spoilery group for Preacher (haven't even looked to see if such a thing exists). I find it very refreshing to follow this wacky crazy insanely entertaining series knowing absolutely nothing about it. www.superherohype.com/features/379165-preacher-episode-9-annotations-a-quick-trip-to-hell#/slide/1Great stuff about last night's ep and a prediction for the finale.

I thought it was the final also !! Happy to have one more episode this weekend. 8-) Yes, this show has been totally entertaining, refreshing, shocking, and funny. The theme kind of reminds me of Fargo with whatever you expected turns out to be the unexpected ! I had to chuckle when the van driver told the angels there was "no carry ons" for their trip to Hell and they had to leave that big black trunk behind with the comic books inside ! LOL I was wondering what they were dragging around for weeks in that trunk ! I totally missed how Cassidy knew to find "angel hands!" Miles was not only an idiot but he was seriously OCD !! I'm a Psycho and Bates Motel fan so that short clip with Norman Bates she was watching on TV was cool as hell. The Psycho shower scene is probably copywrite but I would have loved for Miles to be taking a shower at her house (after a roll in the hay) while she knifed him through the curtain !! I'm bad, LOL. Unless there's more to the story, I'm still in the dark as to why Tulip was so gunho on killing Carlos. I sort of had the feeling it had something to do with causing Tulip and Jessie to break up. Seemed like pretty drastic revenge for just that being the reason. Apparently I totally missed the first few minutes of that episode where Quincannon family got killed, and I just rewatched it yesterday. So that apparently is where his hatred comes in against God. Is he the one who killed Jesse's father?

I read a bit of the Wiki for the Preacher Comic. The TV series is vastly different as far as I can determine as to how events play out. I think we will see in a flashback how the TV series will portray Jesse's father's death. I grabbed this nugget: "In the AMC Preacher television series, Tulip is portrayed by Ethiopian-Irish actress Ruth Negga. In the comics, O'Hare is portrayed as caucasian. In the series, her full name is revealed to be Priscilla-Jean Henrietta O'Hare."
I love Ruth Negga. She and Dominic Cooper (Jesse) are partners in RL. I did not know that. "Right now, Negga has a lot on the go, which perhaps accounts for her restlessness. She was in Limerick the day before our interview for a memorial for her aunt, who died last year. Then it was back to London, where she lives with her partner, actor Dominic Cooper. (They met while appearing with Helen Mirren in a 2009 production of Phèdre.) The day after we meet, she will leave for Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she will spend five months shooting Preacher, a violent and garish TV comic-book adaptation from AMC. Cooper, who has been cast as the lead, will be accompanying her. She is an enthusiastic advocate of taking one’s boyfriend to work. “I highly recommend it.” She gives a lucky-me smile."

First 5 minutes of Preacher finale courtesy of AMC.
I'll be watching Talking Preacher afterward.

Wow, the premier tonight was crazy !!
For a while there, Tulip's anger and attitude was getting on my nerves but apparently she blamed Carlos for her losing her baby, but it was more the lifestyle IMO.
It was weird watching Jesse in the flashbacks when he was running the bad life.
I'm still mind boggled by the whole ending.

rosie I love Tulip and Ruth Negga. Thanks for the link. I need to watch the finale again. I was working on my syllabus for a fall class (which was overdue LOL) and I missed a couple moments.

The Finale was freakin' fantastic! Did you see Donnie's wife's red sparkly platform show in the rubble of Annville? The guy in jail with Cassidy - preferring 'big fluffy asses' - Chief Red Savage and Prairie Dog! LMAO! So ... we can gather the entire first season was cobbled together from flashbacks in the comics. The original comic series BEGINS with Tulip/Jessie/Man driving off to find God. The man who accompanies them in the comics is some unknown guy Tulip finds someplace. I'm not sure when Cassidy comes into play in the comics. I'm glad they gave us Season 1 to we could forge bonds with the characters. I will miss quirky Odin Quincannon (Jackie Earle Haley - filming for Dark Tower), Donnie and his nutty wife, Emily. I wonder if Sheriff Root got out of Dodge and we will see him again. Going to be fun watching The Saint of Killers following the trio. So much fun seeing the actor who portrays Eugene on Talking Preacher. Seth Rogen talked about a character we will see again - a white suited guy to whom Tulip tossed a stolen map. uproxx.com/tv/was-first-season-necessary-preacher/3/www.ew.com/recap/preacher-season-1-finale

Rosie, I'm going to miss everybody you listed plus the two angels, they were a hoot. I really felt sorry for Eugene (arseface) and happy to hear on Talking Preacher that we might see him again.
I don't think I've ever watched a show like this where just about all the cast got axed. I was like OMG !!

uproxx.com/tv/preacher-season-finale-details/2/Interesting tidbits.. I guessed it right that Annville, where this story takes place, is the exact location where the town of Ratwater existed in 1881. After reading this link, I'm going to have to go back and watch the season again. I still have it on my DVR for now.

webergalCool article ... thanks! I'm sure we'll see the remaining angel and now I know we won't see Sheriff Root. For some reason, I knew Annville was built over Ratwater. I guess all the winds and dust led to the 'tornado' theory. Love this series and hated to see it end. Looking forward to Season 2.

"...AMC's "Preacher" is coming to New Orleans. Producers of the darkly comic series, developed partly by Seth Rogen and creative partner Evan Goldberg, have filed paperwork with the Louisiana film office to shoot its 13-episode second season in town in early 2017.... Season 2, which has already started pre-production, is expected to begin shooting at the end of January. It will be shot on a budget of $66.7 million, with $48.3 million of that being spent in-state, including $18 million on Louisiana payroll..." link

Going into Season 2: Variety "...Rogen, fellow executive producer Evan Goldberg, and Catlin found plenty of benefits in making Season 1 a prequel while they worked on Season 2. Chief among them was the development of Jesse — the struggling Texas preacher who is possessed by Genesis, the offspring of an angel and demon relationship, and gifted with a manipulation power that he considers to be the Word of God. “We wanted to see Jesse as a preacher, and [to see] Jesse have a relationship with God that was good before it turned really sh—y,” Catlin said. “It was really his character that was one of the reasons we felt necessitated having the first season feel like a prequel.” “Also, it’s called ‘Preacher’ but you don’t ever see him preach in the comics,” Goldberg continued. “The story just begins, and we wanted to establish that and some of the emotion and history behind that.” Season 1 of “Preacher” ended with the small Texas town of Annville getting blown off the map, along with the entire population. Aside from Jesse, his girlfriend Tulip, and Irish vampire Cassidy, of course, who are headed out in search of God to either help him or — in Jesse’s words — “kick his ass.” With Season 2 finally beginning to adapt the story from the comics, questions about what definitely needed to be included — and what could be toyed with — arose..." link

Yay! Preacher returns a week from tomorrow, on June 25th, at 10pm. Perhaps Talking Fear will be at 11 pm?? Then episode 2 of Preacher will air on the show's regular time on Mon., June 26th at 9 pm. Sorry I'm unable to link this info from AMC...
The only thing I'm not clear about is Talking Preacher. I imagine it will be Monday nite, after all is said and done?!

collider.com/preacher-season-1-explained/#recapHandy little recap of Season 1 - sets the stage for Sunday night's Season 2 premiere. Last season Talking Preacher aired after Premiere and Finale. I can't seem to find when it airs this upcoming season. Possibly after Episode 2 on Monday night? Duh! I wasn't looking at the correct date - Talking Preacher will air after Ep 2 on Monday night.

Has anyone been watching the Season 2 Preacher episodes? Every episode startles me with the bold risks they take, exploring subjects most would shun. This has got to be one of the funniest (and most shocking) shows on TV.
