Part of me wishes they had swapped the actors that played Carl and kept him young - I feel no connection towards the character, and I used to. He just isn't a little boy any more.

I'd love for him to have an arc, where he kind of gets put in his place - teaches him that he's still a child, I liked the episode when he was left to his own devices after the fall of the prison.

I don't buy that Carl is being pushed to the background because CR isn't a good enough actor. EK was as one note as they come and yet was given the shitastic Grady arc. Completely ignoring the aftermath of Carl losing his eye will go down as one of the biggest mistakes made by the show, imo. That being said, I do expect Carl to eventually get around to feeling anger, bitterness, some kind of emotion about his injury, but knowing Gimple it'll happen in season 9. By then, I just won't care, at least not as much as Gimple would want me to.

Regarding Carl. I feel like once AMC knew their show would be successful for a long time, they should have taken a note from Lord of the Rings and filmed several seasons at once. That would have helped immensely with the aging.

I hate Carl but man... he was pretty awesome last night. The way he was with Maggie. "I've got her" and he just stood looking at Negan like... I am beyond caring right now. Carl was done with his shit. I'm looking forward to more Carl.
