I have been working on building up my Doomsday Library, just in case the Zombie Apocalypse arrives (or an EMP, Nuclear War, Economic Collapse, Pandemic, Yellowstone Volcanic Eruption, choose your Apocalypse). I stumbled across two sites that are awesome. www.survivorlibrary.com/and www.forgottenbooks.com/I am building a faraday cage which is supposed to be EMP proof. Inside I will have - Kindle with the Doomsday Library
- USB Drive with the Doomsday Library
- Laptop Computer
- (2) Baofeng HAM radios
- (2) Anker Portable Battery Bank; 20000 mAh
- Anker Solar Panel charger
- Guide 10 Battery Pack
- Rechargeable AA, AAA batteries
- other electronics I do not want to get fried.
Making a doomsday library is important because the internet might not be around forever and this knowledge has already been lost through the generations. Preservation is important.

Oh yeah, an EMP, either from a Solar Flare or a Nuclear Detonation in the atmosphere has the real potential of creating a Walking Dead, end of the world scenario. It's scary. Of all the things, that is the most scary thing that could happen. Without electricity, and no way to bring it back online for years, most of the population would die off within a year. Mass chaos would begin after a few weeks. I'm going to be making mine out of 2 galvanized trash cans. One inside the other, and then also wrap the contents in aluminum foil inside there, as it mentions at that site.

spectre, have you been to sites like instructables and stuff? There's a whole bunch of way that you can build survival stuff on your own. I want to be a little more self-sufficient too and hearing everyone's ideas on DIY is just marvellous
