OMG, that was a killer show last night on Fargo !!! I not only totally lost track on the body count but I was originally rooting for Hanzee to break away from his mob family after he made that comment about being sick of the life, but now he's gone totally bonkers with his mission to kill Ed and Peggy. And who's back on the Gerhardt farm to take care of the young children? And poor Charlie stuck in jail. One more episode and I think it's going to be a heart breaker By the way, here's a link to the original story about the UFO spotted in Minnesota, and the writers worked it into the show, apparently since it happened during 1979, the same year the story is taking place on the show. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Val_Johnson_incident"Incident" Johnson reported that while he was on patrol near Stephen, Minnesota about 2 AM on August 27, 1979 he saw a beam of light just above the road. According to Johnson, the beam sped towards him, his squad car was engulfed in light, and he heard glass breaking. Johnson said he was unconscious for 39 minutes and when he awoke he realized his wristwatch and the vehicle's clock had stopped for 14 minutes. The windshield was shattered, a headlight and red emergency light was damaged and a thin radio aerial bent. Deputies responding to Johnson's call for help found the squad car sideways on the road. Johnson suffered bruises and eye irritation that a physician compared to "welder's burns". When the story received national publicity, Johnson told reporters the sudden attention had caused him and his family a great deal of emotional strain.[1][2] On September 11, 1979, Johnson appeared as a guest on ABC's Good Morning America program." webergal, I've been waiting for you to post about this week's episode. I watched it twice - back to back. I agree Hanzee has gone 'over the edge' completely. Did you know that was Martin Freeman (Lester) narrating the book? Nice touch huh? TX for the link about the UFO sighting. Totally agree - 'killer' show. Lou is going to be prostrate when he finds out about Betsy. I guess I'm not aware of any small children that belong to the Gerhardt's? The wives/women of the hired men are probably not involved with all this and are still back on the farm. Charlie is the only Gerhardt survivor right? Does Dodd have younger daughters? He said he had 4 but I was thinking they were older and had left the farm. Do you think Hanzee wanted Ma Gerhardt to remain on the farm so she would be safe or do you think he 'couched' his words in such a way to ensure she would come along so he could kill her? I'm not really swayed either way on that. I've seen some reviewers going both ways with that theory. Do you think the Waffle house eventually becomes Lou's diner? fargo.wikia.com/wiki/Lou_SolversonThe TV Wiki: Lou Solverson is a former United States Navy officer, as well as a former police officer and owner of Lou's Coffee Shop in Bemidji, Minnesota. He is the father of Molly Solverson. Early life
In 1961, Lou became a Minnesota state trooper. During the winter of 1979, Lou worked on a task force in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with Ben Schmidt for a violent crime. In fear for his family's safety, Lou stayed up one night sitting on his front porch with a shotgun in freezing weather waiting for "something" to arrive. During this time, Lou pulled over some criminals responsible for stealing a snowmobile and was shot in the hip, leaving him with a permanent limp. He retired with full pension.

That was pretty cool that "Lester" narrated the book !!
The only reason I question the small children was that there were younger children standing at the grave in episode 7 when they buried Otto, and then Simone threw Rye's belt buckle in the second grave. And Dodd said he had 4 children. By the reaction that Simone Gerhardt showed when Mike Milligan referenced to her how the first born grandchild being a girl would be "the shine on the apple" of Floyd's eye, that kind of made me think she is the oldest of the 4 children. Just my opinion.
It could have been the children of the hired help but seeings that it was Otto, the grandfather, and Rye the Uncle, I took the children being there as family. Question is, is there any hired help left?
Lou's Coffee Shop was in Bemidji, Minnesota, and the Waffle House was in Luverne, Minnesota so I don't think they're one in the same.
I thought season 1 was really good but this season has been kicking ass !! This show is excellent and some great actors/actresses too !

Also remember back when Dodd and Hanzee killed the typewriter salesman? Dodd was angry that Simone was there in the pickup truck, and he was mumbling to himself about how Bear got lucky to have all the "boys" and he got stuck with all "girls." So that tells me that Simone is the oldest child of Dodds and first granddaughter of Floyds.

The Critics' Choice Awards were just announced. Fargo has 8 noms including Lou, Peggy, Ed, Bear, Floyd and Nick Offerman's character (can't think of the character's name). I think Zach McClaren (Hanzee) is equally good. Ed, Bear and Nick Offerman are nom'd in same category.

webergal , Season 2 finale tonight. Boo Hoo! Not ready for this to end. Yes, I'm anxiously waiting for tonight for the Season 2 finale yet sad, sad, sad, that it's over until Season 3. I spent most of last week re-watching all the episodes to prepare for tonight !! It's weird, at the beginning of the show, I really didn't care for Peggy and felt she was being dishonest and manipulating with Ed about them having children, her sneaking birth control, not backing his dream to own the butcher shop, and then, she was pretending they could have all of that, once he helped her get rid of a dead body ! But then I also didn't like how Constance was manipulating Peggy on how her life with Ed shouldn't be based on "we" (as a married couple) but on "me" (as Peggy's dream only), of course, it was obvious, at least to me, what Constance was up to regarding Peggy, with checking out her "butt" and then sealing the deal with the flowers and wine at the motel room. LOL, Then everything took a sudden complete one eighty, shit hit the fan in every direction, and now that Peggy has seen the light, she's fighting for and protecting Ed with the fierceness of a mother lion with new cubs. Plus her whole personality changed ... for the better ! The twists and turns on this show just blow your mind and you're either laughing or in shock !! :o The actors they have on this show are excellent and everyone of them completely owns their roles. And there are several actors that don't even have speaking roles (or very limited) yet they own their roles too ! By the way, Nick Offerman is Karl Weathers, the town's only attorney. If I had to give out awards, other than the show as whole, it would be: - Kirsten Dunst as Peggy Blumquist - Patrick Wilson as State Trooper Lou Solverson - Jesse Plemons as Ed Blumquist - Bokeem Woodbine as Mike Milligan - Zahn McClarnon as Hanzee Dent I guess Jean Smart as Floyd Gerhardt should get an award for acting like she's the boss of the family and knows more than her sons, but she couldn't see beyond her nose what her granddaughter Simone was doing, not just in the betrayal part, but that she was being a slut. Then Floyd criticized her son Dodd for his over ambitious personality to go to war with the Kansas crime family, yet she went off half cocked herself making decisions from the heart and not the head, and not really doing what a real boss would do to run her own major crime family. Without Otto, the whole family fell apart. By the way, I don't think Hanzee wanted Floyd involved at all with the information that Bear needed to get some men and go to the motel, because Hanzee only asked to talk to Bear on the phone. It was Floyd who pushed passed them, and took the call from Hanzee herself. Then she got attitude that her sons couldn't do their jobs right so she wanted to go herself and take care of things. Hanzee didn't want her there sighting he couldn't vouch for her safety, but she was just as bull headed and cocky as her own sons !

I had to watch episode 10 a couple of times. I thought it would have been more action packed but seems each action scene was cut short, to give it more of an ending of what happened to the various characters after the motel massacre. Turns out Peggy really was "touched" (aka short on fries in your happy meal) as Betsy's father told her. Ed ("All I wanted to do was own a butcher shop and have kids") finally realized it also in the end !! I'm still confused on the Gerhardt's woman in the kitchen? Who was she and did they let her live as well as the children? She was referenced as "the Indian" so I was wondering if she was related to Hanzee? On Hanzee's scared face: Remember back when the big gun fight happened at the motel? When Hanzee was right outside room 222, Peggy and Ed opened the door real quick, and Peggy threw something into Hanzee's face, I assume it was boiling water from the coffee pot. I don't recall anything else in that room that she could have used. www.bustle.com/articles/129755-the-fargo-season-2-finale-connects-to-season-1-in-surprising-waysFull Article Link Here(SNIP) "There was another exceedingly subtle reference that only the most eagle-eyed viewers will have noticed. When Hanzee's accomplice handed him his Social Security card with his new identity, the camera lingered for a moment on the name: "Moses Tripoli." This name doesn't mean much solely in the context of Season 2... but it's one that you might recognize from last year. Mr. Tripoli was the name of the Fargo mob boss last year, the man who Sam Hess worked for. When Malvo killed Hess for Lester, Mr. Tripoli put out a hit on Hess' killer, sending Mr. Wrench and Mr. Numbers to find whoever did it and execute him. We only saw Mr. Tripoli twice, once while enjoying a meal in a Chinese restaurant, and once again when he was murdered by Malvo during his assault on the Fargo mob's headquarters. (Presumably, the deaf kid and his brother who Hanzee was watching play baseball in that same scene would also grow up to be the Fargo mob henchmen from Season 1, Mr. Numbers and Mr. Wrench.)So what's the connection between Hanzee Dent, aka Moses Tripoli, and Season 2's Mr. Tripoli? Although the former was portrayed by Zahn McClarnon and the latter by Mark Acheson, the similar name wasn't a coincidence: they were the same person. Hanzee's accomplice mentioned that the assassin would be seeking not just cosmetic surgery to repair his blistered face, but more intensive plastic surgery to completely disguise his appearance. Hanzee then declared his intention to start his own empire from the ashes of the Gerhardts', despite his accomplice warning him that one day his own empire would fall just as hard. That warning came true: although Hanzee survived the events of Season 2 and would go on to successfully build his own fearsome mob syndicate, he was always destined to be felled 29 years later by a bullet fired from Lorne Malvo's gun. And so the cycle of violence continues"

I had forgotten about that. TX TX ♥ Yes, reviewers and fan are saying that Hanzee got a complete disguise and turned out to be Season 1's Mr. Tripoli. Crazy days huh?? The Indian woman in the kitchen was in a couple other episodes. She was their cook/housekeeper etc. She was the one that Simone yelled at when Simone was talking to Mike Milligan. The woman and Hanzee might have collaborated on the Sioux Falls Massacre. (The Gerhardt's should have treated their people better.) Could have been why Mike Milligan decided to give her the car and all the money. Yes, Mike let her get away. That's why there was no car there when Ricky G showed up. Apparently he was in cahoots with deceiving the Gerhardt's as well. I'll be reading the Wiki for Season 2 for sure. After last season, I never thought the showrunners and writers could keep up the momentum. I'm convinced they can and am so anxious for Season 3.

www.hollywoodreporter.com/fien-print/fargo-noah-hawley-talks-new-849097Season 3 won't air till Spring 2017 Noah Hawley talks about last night's finale as well - good article from The Hollywood Reporter Scroll down after reading/skimming this article - interview with Zach McClarnon - Hanzee - also very good. 'Fargo' Season 3 Won't Premiere Until 2017: Noah Hawley Talks New Season, UFOs and Finale
While many of the questions were about specific details resolving the second season finale, the third season was nebulously discussed, with the big revelation being that we probably won't get any Fargo in 2016.
"It's a winter show, for better or worse, and this winter, there is not time to shoot another year before this winter is over," Hawley said. "It's also very important to me and my other producers, I think one of the strengths of the show is that we separate the writing from the production and we really take our time and we break the whole story and we write eight of the 10 hours at least and we end up up there knowing exactly what we're doing, exactly what the whole story is. We're going through the writing process now. I've written the first hour and we're about half-way through breaking the season and we'll be writing over the next few months with the idea that we'll go into production, much like our first year, we'll be shooting in November and hopefully back on the air in the Spring of 2017."

Pre-finale interview with Zahn McClarnon from Uproxx. I think the actress who played Simone and Zach both killed their roles - and arguably both deserve the title of biggest 'breakout' characters. uproxx.com/tv/2015/12/zahn-mcclarnon-hanzee-from-fargo-interview/"Arguably the biggest breakout character in this season of FX’s Fargo has been Hanzee Dent, the Gerhardt’s cold, menacing, and mysterious Native American strongman. His presence on the show has been a slow build. When he first speaks he explains, completely unfazed, how he had to cut someone’s ears off, then resumes not saying much at all. But now a character who began the season lurking in the background is the last man from the Gerhardt clan standing heading into the show’s season finale tonight. Along the way we’ve seen Hanzee — a name derived from the Lakota word aháŋzi (oh-hahn-zee), which translates to shade and shadow — eat raw rabbit gizzards like it ain’t no thing, be completely unimpressed by magic tricks in a flashback scene to his childhood, and, of course, kill his Gerhardt family sidekick/brother with a bullet to the head. And it’s made us wonder: Who is this guy and who’s the actor playing him so wonderfully?"

FX Boss Offers Details on ‘AHS’ Season 6, ‘Fargo’ Season 3 and ‘Sons of Anarchy’ Spinoff variety.com/2016/tv/news/american-horror-story-season-6-fargo-season-3-sons-of-anarchy-spinoff-1201681539/Here is the blurb about 'Fargo' Season 3 “Fargo” Season 3
The third cycle of “Fargo” will be the most contemporary yet for the original movie and the FX series. Season 3 will be set in 2010, in comparison to the first season, which was set in 2006, and the second, which kicked off in 1979.
Landgraf also teased one character returning. “As far as I know, there is one,” he told reporters, but did not reveal who that was. “That doesn’t mean [Noah Hawley] might not change his mind and there might not be more.”
The new installment is slated to premiere in 2017. For more details on “Fargo” Season 3, see what Noah Hawley told Variety here.
Do you think the returning character could be Charlie or Peggy? Both were sent to prison in 79. What do you think?

www.ew.com/article/2016/05/20/fargo-ewan-mcgregorEwan McGregor has been cast as the lead - he will play brothers (not twins) in Season 3. One character is dubbed the "Parking Lot King of Minnesota"! Ewan McGregor has been cast in the starring role of FX’s Emmy-winning anthology drama – two starring roles, in fact.
Because the Star Wars and Trainspotting star isn’t just playing one part in the series. He’s been cast as two brothers, Emmit and Ray Stussy, who are at the center of the story (and no, they’re not twins).
Here’s the official description of his characters, which marks the first details of any kind about the show’s mysterious third edition: “Emmit Stussy is the Parking Lot King of Minnesota. A handsome, self-made, real estate mogul and family man, Emmit sees himself as an American success story. His slightly younger brother, Ray Stussy, on the other hand is more of a cautionary tale. Balding, pot-bellied, Ray is the kind of guy who peaked in high school. Now a parole officer, Ray has a huge chip on his shoulder about the hand he’s been dealt, and he blames his brother, Emmit, for his misfortunes.”

Winstead will play “Nikki Swango,” a “crafty and alluring recent parolee with a passion for competitive bridge playing. Nikki is a woman with a plan, focused on always being at least one move ahead of her opponents.”
