i watched the pilot Tuesday night and was stunned by how well the story was told. Kathy Bates was fantastic capturing Joan Blondell. How the movie was made and all of the similarities between Joan and Bette was fantastic. I feared this series would be too campy to enjoy, but I am hooked now dark sister.

Ripley I about died when they showed Bette and her Baby Jane make up. That was perfection.

10/10 Feud is even better than I expected (and I had high expectations, lol)! Alphabetically, because they're equally superb, the acting, directing, and writing are amazing. The look of the show is lush and authentic. The music choices are gorgeous. I'm giddy that I have seven more episodes to look forward to! I so appreciate, and am so grateful for quality. Something I realized while watching Feud: although the entertainment industry has made some progress since that time period as far as its treatment of poc and the lgbt members of our community, the scene with Robert Aldrich and Jack Warner in Warner's office could easily be observed today. That's honestly stunning.

Rosie, FX is re-airing the Feud pilot at 2:30 AM Saturday, at 11:30 PM Saturday, and at 12:17 AM Monday (Eastern Time). Well worth watching!

This show is riveting! I loved it when Bette and Joan teamed together for a hot minute. Too bad they didn't see the deliberate machinations to pit them against each other.

BD's takedown of Bette was great too. I wonder if we'll see Christina Crawford at some point too?

Another great episode on Sunday! I loved hearing Bette and Joan talk about the Oscars. "Not youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, bitch!"

The conversation between Bette and Joan in the restaurant was heartbreaking (and wonderfully acted). Hedda Hopper was vile (not Judy Davis, she's fantastic!).

Alfred Molina was absolutely superb in "More, or Less"! I love Mamacita, and Jackie Hoffman's portrayal of her! I hope Pauline heeds her sage advice, and doesn't give up!

I've caught up on the first four episodes.
My favorite character is Mamacita. She sealed the deal for me in Ep 4 when she laid it all out for Pauline. The census reports etc. Jackie Hoffman is superb.
I think Jessica Lange is killing it as Joan - she has that famous 'stare' down pat. Joan was not as likeable as Bette. Susan Sarandon is also nailing her character.
Alfred Molina's portrayal of his character - he's really good in this role. Lots of those B directors around in the "Golden Age of Hollywood".
I read something about Bette Davis' RL the other day. Every time she reported to set, 5 packs of Vantage cigs were opened and the cigs put into large bowl/cup. Bette smoked all 100 during the day. Someone followed her around with the cup so she could chain smoke. She died of cancer in her 80's but not before she had two strokes.

I can't wait for tomorrow. I've been anticipating seeing the Oscars play out on that show. What happened in real life is so positively bitchy.

I read the set people recreated the Oscar scene exactly ... every detail. Amazing how JL has been transformed into JC. I won't be able to watch tonight. I have peeps are coming over to watch TWD finale which will extend into the first half hour of Feud. I'll watch tomorrow. **** I walked away to make some tea while watching Ep 3. What was the point of BD singing? Was she supposed to be promoting the 'picture'? All of those actors said "picture" back then. Never movie or film. **** Edited: Rosie! Google is your friend! Found this ... nypost.com/2017/03/27/feud-how-bette-davis-pioneered-a-big-hollywood-trend/ "Then “Feud” executive producer Ryan Murphy gives us another window into the show business scene of the time: the weekly televised variety show. Davis “sang” the theme of “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?” on “The Andy Williams Show” in 1962, a surreal moment replicated in detail, with Sarandon wearing a blue chiffon cocktail dress while she tosses her head back and belts out the song."

I was getting a little paranoid that they'd skip the Oscars drama in the last episode, I'm so glad they didn't.

Loved this episode. That stunt Joan pulled at the Oscars was SO bitchy.
I felt bad for Bette though (Bancroft deserved that Oscar though)

Great show, I agree. I also have to add from a personal perspective I sat next to Susan Sarandon on a 5 hour plane ride and she was travelling with her kids. I was shocked. She could be the nicest, most down to earth, sweetest person on the planet. A great mom, totally everything about her kids. Makes watching her play someone like Bette all the more incredible. I travel alot for work and have met alot of people. I would say hands down she was the most genuine person I've met.
PS.....She was also about 5 1, and literally travelled without one iota of make up

Her daughter Eve has been very forthcoming with her (Eve's) experience with post partum depression. I've enjoyed watching SS over the years. She's had some great roles.

I finally got to watch the Oscar episode.
I don't think Joan staged that Oscar green room soiree solely to get on Bette's last nerve.
My takeaway is Joan wanted ALL the Oscar attention on her. Bette was simply collateral damage.
I know Ryan Murphy has taken some artistic license in the series. I wonder how much of the Oscar drama really happened. I mean calling Geraldine Page for instance.
The children of the real Mamacita has said their mother left Joan's employ because she had to go back to Germany - not because Joan was throwing things.
At any rate, I'm hooked on the series.

Rosie, guess I should have mentioned that was almost 20 years ago huh LOL!!! I was very fortunate to have a lot of them, but most of the celebrity sightings were many years ago when frequent flyer miles were such that when you travelled all the time you seemed to always get a free upgrade. Now it doesn't work like that so I am in coach and no longer hob nobbing lol.
It was a great experience. I was travelling with someone else from work who was convinced I was wrong and it wasn't her for many reasons, the biggest one being a movie star of her level would never travel with literally zero make up(and wouldn't behave as "normally" as she did)
Then he realized it was her and he was blown away. Btw...she still looked beautiful. I've really appreciated her all the more as an actress after having had that experience, especially when I see her play roles that are so clearly not her.
I'm sure some creative license is taken, as it always is, interpreting a story like this to the screen. They are making a tv show/movie after all!

I'm enjoying the series a lot, knowing that there is license taken. Davis is definitely coming off well and Joan's victim card must be worn through by now. The Oscars stunt was bad enough, but having read both books by the daughters, I know worse is to come.

I wonder if Joan was her own worst enemy, but then I think of her family. A brother who gleefully blackmails his own sister? Her mother's second husband having sex with an 11-year-old Joan? I feel much more compassion for Ms. Crawford now. I almost fainted with joy last week, when I saw John Waters had a role!

Tonight's finale made me sad on many levels. This was an interesting entertaining series. Imagine agreeing to have six molars removed to create the illusion of high cheekbones.
