Talk about all the Alien movies here, both up coming and the classics we know and love. www.ew.com/article/2015/09/25/alien-paradise-lost-ripley-connectionSetting the stage for the " Alien" sequel? “In a way it is Prometheus 2,” Scott said, referring to Alien: Paradise Lost. “It’s exactly the same story. But it was always in the works to be called that [Alien: Paradise Lost]. Is Prometheus actually taking us off course from where I’m going, which is actually backing into the first Alien… I’ve even got connections with Ripley [in this], but I’m not telling you what."You all remember Ripley? She's the one who sold me on short hair.

So excited!!! Alien was actually the first modern day horror movie I enjoyed. (I don't count all those old vampire, werewolf, and Frankenstein monsters from the 30s, 40s, and 50s.)

It must be better than Prometheus- how could it not be? "Even though details have been slim, Ridley Scott has shared quite a bit of vague information about his Prometheus sequel, Alien: Covenant, which is set to shoot early next year for release in 2017. Scott revealed that the new film will have all the Alien goodies, from the egg to the face-hugger, chest-burster, and even “the big boy.” He also explained that the film will reveal a destroyed Engineer planet, and also shared plans for an expanded universe that will eventually bridge directly into his 1979 Alien... ...With Alien: Covenant taking place 10 years later, one has to assume that either it’s going to take Shaw and David that long to reach the Engineers’ home planet, or the “new crew” will be in for a surprise when they cross paths with the android that has a serious God complex..." link

"...ow, we already knew from early concept art that Cpl. Hicks was going to return, albeit a bit more scarred than his previous incarnation. Additionally, Michael Biehn said in an interview last year that the film is, “…planning on bringing me and Newt back and at this point Newt will be around twenty-seven years old…it’s really a passing of the torch between Sigourney and this younger actress who would play Newt. It would keep the franchise alive…” So this idea is nothing new but it hadn’t been confirmed until today. Blomkamp’s Alien 5 is currently on hold while Ridley Scott finishes filming Alien: Convenant, the sequel to 2012’s sci-fi/thriller Prometheus, according to Sigourney Weaver. Meanwhile, Carrie Henn, who played Newt in Aliens, has been very involved in Alien Day via her Twitter account. Again, that says absolutely nothing about the possibility of her coming back to reprise her role. And, to be completely realistic, the movie is so far from production that it’d be ridiculous to even speculate at the possibility. But it’s awesome to see the real Newt still so passionate and involved in the franchise..." link

I'm so psyched for this! Ripley, Hicks and Newt back together again, whoo-hoo! I'd love to see Carrie Henn reprise the role. I think most of the audience would, tbh. I wonder if Lance Henriksen will be in it. Bishop is a synthetic human, not a robot, after all. )

"Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Weaver, who will reprise her iconic role of Ripley in the new film, confirmed the plot trajectory of “Alien 5”. The film is currently in the pre-production stages and set to be directed by “District 9” director Neill Blomkamp.
“It’s just as if, you know, the path forks and one direction goes off to three and four and another direction goes off to Neill’s movie,” she says, confirming the rumours that the film would overlook the events of third and fourth “Alien” films as a direct follow-up to “Aliens”.
“Aliens 5” should not be confused with that other “Aliens” project, currently underway from Ridley Scott..."

"...Scott’s film is shooting now and comes out in August 2017, but that doesn’t mean Blomkamp’s Aliens follow-up will start right away. “Now that we’re waiting for that, I have a couple of Avatars to do and Neill has The Gone World,” Weaver says. “So we’ll have to see what happens when we get back, when those projects are over.” Either way, she sounds determined to revisit Ellen Ripley. “It’s a great story and it’s satisfying to me to give this woman an ending,” Weaver says, which makes it sound like this would be her final go-round as the character. That means resolution — not that Ripley will necessarily die. (Note that she’s died before, and that obviously didn’t end anything.) Weaver also suggested Blomkamp’s Aliens sequel will delve into the motivation of the aliens themselves, exploring what it is their race has been seeking. “The script itself has so much in it that’s so original, but also really satisfies the, I would say, the primal needs of the aliens,” Weaver says. “It’s a tribute to all of the great work that the other directors have done, in a way, but goes in a completely new direction. I hope we’ll do it.”..." www.ew.com/article/2016/07/13/sigourney-weaver-aliens-sequel-neill-blomkamp

Love the Alien: Covenant tagline Ripley That looks amazing. I am so excited and also nervous about this. The first two were almost perfect movies to me. I can ignore the other stuff if this comes out good as well.

Alien: Covenant was a damn mess. I've heard a LOT of criticism for the movies, but I never really did watch the movies or the new one myself. Did you see the movie, Dark Sister? What did you think of it?

Was it having high expectations over such a long-running universe, or was it just so objectively bad that it has to be removed from memory?

I expected them to improve on Prometheus, but they continued to make the same mistakes t hey did there. I don't think it's bad enough that I want to wipe it from my memory, I just wish it had been better.

I think we can all relate to being involved as a fan and the emotional involvement it takes, and seeing it being handled so poorly is so disheartening.

Alien without Ripley just isn't Alien to me. Heard she's too busy running forums now. I somehow missed this comment at the time, but I have just howled laughter for the past few minutes and woke up a now cranky cat. dark sister, you win the Interwebz for this comment. Thanks for the best laugh I have had in a week! Prometheus disappointed me- fantastic cast, crappy writing. The people were stupid, most of them, and I cheered as they died. I have not seen Covenant but the reviews were enough for now. When I can stream it for free, I will. Love the tagline, like the trailer so will watch with lowest expectations. Thanks again for the awesome comment. I'm still laughing.

Ripley saw this and thought of you I love many of Ridley Scott's movies. The Martian is one of my favorite movies of all time, as is the original Alien. However, I wish I could get back the time I spent on Prometheus and Covenant, sadly. That goes for "Alien3" and "Alien4", as well. I'd love to see an Alien "5" (really, 3) made with Sigourney Weaver, Michael Biehn, Carrie Henn, and Lance Henricksen, with James Cameron involved. If not, c'est la Hollywood. But Alien and Aliens are the franchise to me, tbh.
